Hammer Hazard
« on: July 16, 2008, 07:39:27 AM »
I thought Jeff said this was put on hold but I found it listed on Bowlingball.com for sale.  It looks like it might be a limited release because it is listed for right handers only go figure here is the link.

Quoted from Jeff Ussery himself, from the Hammer forums on Hammerbowling.com.

"Hello everyone!

The Hazard was a product that we decided not to move forward with at the eleventh hour. There was an extremely limited production made, so if you want one of these, now is the time to pick it up. They were all sold through a single distributor due to the extremely limited quantity, and have landed at bowlingball.com.

The idea here was a ball marketed towards right-hand bowlers only. The core was a No Mercy HART core system with an offset center of gravity. The offset makes it so that the stronger drilling positions are only available to right hand bowler layouts. Due to static weights, these layouts simply aren't possible in left hand layouts. The cover on the ball was a new coverstock called Violent Flip Reactive, and was finished at 4000/Factory Finish Polish.

Also - there's an update on the Razyr! Look for these balls coming late this month to pro shops around you! We've been able to ramp these balls quickly and they're actually going earlier than normal. We're very excited about this launch!

I'd be glad to field questions about it if you do have them. Please feel free to e-mail me directly at jussery@hammerbowling.com. Thanks for your support this season!"

Any Hammer Staff members know why it is that Bowlingball.com is the only ones that has them.

I think I see why they didn't want to go forward with this ball now. Why make a ball only usable for right handed bowlers?

Very interesting looking ball, although it doesn't look like it was approved by USBC or PBA......USBC rules (snickers).

Thanks for the heads-up on the hazard. Just ordered one from bowlingball.com. I like the way my No Mercy works with the hart core and figured if I wait they'll be gone. There's some guys on my summer league that throw hammer stuff. Wait till I show em this ball.

It will probably be the same concept as with the Quantum Helix which was also produced for lefties and righties, just to make sure that the ball would track on the polyester ring as intended.
I mean, the idea is not bad - but I do not think that the "extra" through the static weight shift would be worthwhile, compared to a standard HART core?
