Doom it again!
« on: March 03, 2006, 07:33:56 AM »
Well I did it again.  I just ordered my 3rd Raw Hammer Doom.  That's right my 3rd.  This one i'm going to go out on a limb and drill it stacked leverage.  I am  really curious how this ball will react with such a strong layout.

Keep in mind most of my equipment is drilled pin above and in between the fingers(5.5" from pap) with the cg's kicked right to 1 oz and no balance holes.  So drilling this with the pin in such a strong position will really be fun to see.

Does anyoone out there have there Doom drilled stacked leverage?  If so how did you like the reaction?

Doom drilled with the pin leverage and cg kicked right to 1 oz and no balance hole.

or

Doom drilled pin leverage and cg kicked right 1 like 1.5oz of side and brought back legal with a balance hole below the pap.

What do you think would be the difference in reaction?  Both balls have the pin in the leverage position.  Both balls have 1 oz of side after drilling but one of the Dooms has a balance hole drilled into the ball belwo the pap.  Do you think there would be that much of a difference?

I for one don't like holes, if I can help it. I'd go pin leverage, CG kicked right and 1 oz, but that's just me.

Good Luck and keep us posted.

ChiTown'
.....been awhile since we talked. It's amazing how "like"minds pick up on the same things! I, too have a Doom. My driller tried to tell me this ball was for dryish lanes. Yeah right!

This ball is for medium to medium dry, and people with some speed on their balls. I have mine drilled similar to yours. Pin high, just above the bridge, and the cg in the palm area, not quite stacked. If I'd have stacked it, it would've flipped right over into the next pair of lanes! My cg is kicked right of the midline about .5 inches. Normally this is a weak drill, with a slight controllable flip on the back end. With the Doom......man O man, it still  moved like gang busters!!

I ended up having to put a .5" weighthole on my PAP, just to tame it down a bit. This is still a very strong ball. I love it, but it's way stronger than advertised. Also, the more I bowl with it, the smoother it gets.

You guys must be working with a lot more oil than we ever see, if you're going to a stacked leverage drill! Good luck!

That's funny.  I'm telling you if you get a chance this is the ball to buy.  This is by far the best reactive pearl ball I have ever owned.

For those interested.  To keep the Doom shiny use Ebonites factory finish polish on a ball spinner.  This came from Brian Grahm from ebonite.

Hey bud this ball is a gem.  The only reason i'm drilling another one leverage is for heavier oil.  I don't ever drill equipment leverage anymore because then the balls are usually too strong for what I want them for.  Hell with the pin 5.5" from my pap this Doom still whells big time on the back end.  I can cover a lot of boards in a short period of time with that layout on this ball.
