Title: Hammer Summer Releases
Post by: EL3MCNEIL on May 05, 2015, 01:54:50 PM
Hammer is showing their new spare ball. It's called Muddy Girl Camo. Hopefully they show more soon.

They're doing the storm schedule then.

They always did the low end stuff first..

EBI always does em all at once...

The strategy seems weird to me though. Wouldn't you want to put your best foot forward in order to let people know that they are still here and are going to continue to put out intriguing bowling equipment.

With in a year Hammer has released three spare balls, the Carbon Fiber, Hammerflage, Twisted, and now number 4 with this. Trust me I am a proud member of Hammer Nation, my main balls I roll every week are Hammer, but I want more than another spare ball! I do not own any of the ones listed. I am not going to pay $90 for a spare ball, I have a Storm Ice, and DV8 Glitter Gold for that. Plastic balls for a better price. The last plastic from Hammer I bought was a True Blood, have had it for 1 1/2 years now, and only use it for the toast, hooks a tad too much to use it as a spare ball. I hope they have something good planned for the future if not sad to say I may start looking at Roto Grip and Motiv to fill in with some new stuff. Haven't tried either yet but its looking that way.

Not to sound condescending, but hold your fire, man. This is only the 1st ball they have announced. This doesn't mean that it is the only ball they are putting out. Keep in mind that along with the Hammerflage and Twisted, they also put out the BW Legend and a new Spike.

So I doubt that the new spare ball will be the only thing coming out. They appear to be putting out the announcements in steps, so hold your fire, then judge on the entire body when they are all announced.

I've learned that patience is always key. Do I want to know all of there releases, yes. But it's not something that they want to release at the same time for their own business reasons.

But just because you are a Hammer Head doesn't mean if you don't like what they are currently offering, that you can't go try something else out. We aren't sponsored so we don't have any reasons to limit ourselves  ;D

if you tune into the xtra frame coverage fo the summer swing, they will all be using the new stuff

Both points well taken. I know there will be more to come in the near future. I guess I went into a bit of a rant when I seen it was a spare ball, sorry about that EL3MCNEIL, I meant no disrespect to your original post!

I am just hoping for a heavy oil ball, and maybe a new benchmark ball.

Anyone who knows me, knows that I take every opportunity to slam EBI when I get the chance. With that said, the "changing of the guard" is coming as they have some GREAT stuff coming around the bend. Still reluctant of their covers being worth a damn though.

We all want something, and when who we look to doesn't seem to get to what we want we get a little antzy. I'm in the same boat as you waiting for a heavy oil ball. If you haven't already, the Black Widow Legend is a good ball that may fit the bill for you for a benchmark ball. It may not be a textbook benchmark in some peoples eyes, but I find the ball to be extremely reliable and consistent. The B.W. Legend is the only reason I didn't get a Bad Intentions because I think that they overlapped a little too much.
Title: Re: Hammer Summer Releases
Post by: Dave81644 on May 07, 2015, 05:55:40 AM
IMO, the bad intentions is a very underrated ball, its a true heavy oiler
I wouldn't have anywhere to use such a beast, although with surface tweaks, its a maybe
the black widow legend should be a fair bit longer and sharper than the Bad Intentions
the BI is more rolly and arcing.
its asymmetric vs symmetric balls
i could easily see having having both in your bag

I do have a BWL and it's been great, the last couple outings has been giving me fits for the last couple weeks. I de oiled it and freshened up the surface, and am going to take it to practice in the morning. Will See how it does. I have thought lately about the Bad Intentions, almost picked one up. I got a Bad Ass last November at first I hated it, threw it a few times. Then one day at practice, had it in the bag was about to call it a day, decided to give it a shot. Rolled one last game and that thing came alive. After a little play with the surface, honestly right now that's one of my go to balls.

Dave, good name by the way, I think I am gonna pull the trigger on the  Bad Intention! Thank you for the input!

I rolled the BI at a Demo and I got that same feel, but for some reason I didn't feel comfortable having both. The B.W. Legend did seem to go longer but seemed like they both offered me some what the same look. I do like the ball though so I am always on the fence about getting one. I adjusted my surface of my B.W. Assassin to give me something that can handle a bit more oil so that was another reason I wasn't swayed too much into getting a BI. But now since the summer's right around the corner I will more than likely get a replacement or swap out the B.W. Assassin for something else and the Bad Intentions is once again on my radar. If I had more money I wouldn't be so picky will the balls I purchase lol.

they have been raving about a few particular pieces that look impressive
i can say for sure that there will be a couple that are amazing IMO

Are you sure it wasn't just a Dull B.W. Red Legend? I am a fan of the Black Widows so I wouldn't be mad if another one was released. Maybe with a different coverstock (i.e. Juiced Solid or Juiced Xtreme?)I think that might be a good combination.

But, if they are attempting to go in a new direction, I don't see how releasing another Black Widow is doing that. Depending on their next announcement I am leaning towards purchasing a Bad Intentions after talking with members on this board.

The new RWL will more than likely have the Gas Mask core since that is one of the things that the Widow's are famous for. My only question is what is the coverstock being used and when will we get to see it in action.

Off topic, but Im watching the Summer Swing on Xtra Frame, and Tommy Jones is using that colorful C300 (Crazy Antics maybe?) ball and went consecutive  5-7-10's followed by an 8-10, that ball hits like absolute shit.

Nevertheless, the Crazy Antics was the ball that was farting all over the lane, back to back 5-7-10s? From Tommy Jones? Make excuses if you want, but he should never leave that, period.

I agree of all bowlers he shouldn't.  But u watch guys with monster rrv rates just rev down the lane never exiting the hook phase, getting into a roll.  Just straight up deflecting.

How many lillies did everyone else leave?

There was one other that I saw, point is, Tommy Jones has one of the stronger releases in the world, and multiple 5-7-10s is more an indictment on the ball than him. But, EBI fanboy police won't see it that way.
Title: Re: Hammer Summer Releases
Post by: Dave81644 on May 15, 2015, 05:59:42 PM
what i saw was a guy with a bit to much speed and not soft enough, regardless of ball brand
on Wednesday match play, you saw more games and the lanes starting to break down where you could get some ball motion
Thursday night on the same pattern, there were fewer bowlers and they didn't break down much
i wouldn't blame it on the ball as much as the bowler, but im sure others wont agree

Look guys,

How many times it gots to be said?  It ain't about the ball OR the bowler, it's about the MATCHUP!

Some people bowl great with Storm. Some do not.  Some bowl well with Brunswick......etc.

Mr. Jones talents may not match well with C300 on all conditions, but may be fantastic on others. See what I did there?

C'mon, y'all know this stuff. Stop trying to turn this into a "My dad/brand can beat your dad/brand" type of thing.

Put the "right" ball in the "right" hands, and it won't matter what name is on the side of it.

Every and any actual Tour National staffer (excluding PBA regional) on EBI were able to throw any EBI brand during WSOB qualifying... Just on the show (TJ) would only be able to throw E.
It is only now with this new move that any (minus Adam Barta, Les Mann and Shawn Lee; sidenote) EBI staffer can throw any of the brands qualifying, show, or otherwise.

I am well aware. TJ has been throwing Track and Columbia off air for years. I have bowled a few non sanctioned tournaments against him and wouldn't have an E ball in the building. On T and C300 balls.

Hammer new announced releases:

Red Legend Solid
Viral Solid

For some reason I took a good guess that the coverstock used on the Red Legend Solid would be the Juiced. Both seem like good additions though.

I'm thinking that the Red Legend could be a good replacement for my B. W. Assassin if I don't get the Bad Intentions!!!  ;D ;D ;D

Finally we are getting a SOLID coverstock on the Viral / Vibe core.... it's been a long time coming, but I am going to really enjoy throwing this ball as I LOVE the Vibe core.

The Red Legend Solid will be a great compliment for a STRONG version of the Legend / Black Widow series... Juiced coverstock is similar as the Bad Intentions / Bad Ass series, so this will offer a strong motion throughout the lane & a nice backend motion throughout the pin decks.  This will be the stronger/earlier motion for the Legend series!

I can't wait for the Viral Solid! I missed out on a chance to get a Vibe twice now! (Emerald and Cobalt)
The Viral seemed too skid/flippy with that cover. I was hoping they went this route. Now I'm just waiting for something like the Jet Black again.

Michael, would you choose the Red Legend Solid to replace the BWL? Granted, you're looking at solid vs. Hybrid, and a different ball motion down the lane.. I see spots in my bag for both and already have the BWL, and could almost see the Red Legend Solid overlapping the ALF Solid I have.

If the Red Legend Solid does overlap the ALF Solid, I'd stick with the ALF Solid, as it would be a good benchmark ball, plus I've always liked blue over red (the main reasons I chose the Blue and Blue Pearl Fab Hammers over the Red and Red Pearl). :)

BL.

I doubt the Arson Low Flare solid would overlap with the Red Legend Solid. Both are completely different balls designed for different conditions

BradL .....  The Red Legend SOLID will be a much stronger overall ball than the original Legend. From what I have heard (Still waiting on my seed balls), the RLS will be about 5 boards stronger overall than the Legend at the same surface prep, due to the coverstock change.

The Red Legend Solid (RLS) will be a much stronger ball than the Arson Low Flare series as the ALF series are definitely perfect for the benchmark ball look (medium patterns) that people love, but the RLS will also be stronger down the lane as well.

Hope this helps...

So this would be what I am looking for to replace my BW Assassin. Have they posted any videos of the ball in motion yet?

I can't wait for the Viral Solid! I missed out on a chance to get a Vibe twice now! (Emerald and Cobalt)
The Viral seemed too skid/flippy with that cover. I was hoping they went this route. Now I'm just waiting for something like the Jet Black again.

But it's not available until freaking SEPTEMBER and this is 3 full months away!!!!!
What's wrong with this picture??

Placed a pre-order; haven't had a Vibe since the original Blue Solid.
I hope this one turns out to be as usable and versatile as that one was.
