Hammer Vibe.. Really!?
« on: February 16, 2007, 03:39:48 AM »
So this was my expression when my g/f bought me the ball for V-day... I've seen that the ball is good on dry lanes and I told my g/f that I'd like to have the ball as a nice back up to my Widow.  Well of course everyone knows the widow makes a huge mid lane move (for strokers) and is pretty uncontrollable on drier surfaces, So I decided to throw the Vibe for the first time and that thing went way right and then snapped back to the pocket like a ball I've never thrown before.  I just wanted to see what other people think of the Vibe and to see if anyone else has experience with it on lanes that are a little wetter?  I was hoping to have this ball as a 10 pin killer but it still breaks too much on the back end of the lane, anyone got any ideas on a decent spare ball?

AMF union Hills is where I usually go for late night cheap bowling... it just sucks because i can never get a decent lane.. the lanes are usually cooked by the time i get there and after all their leagues are done.  the widow usually rolls toow early and blows through the nose.. hense getting the vibe.  i talked to the guy there and he said they will be starting a sport league coming up this summer.. i just don't want to wait that long.. i want to get competitive again and have some fun.  you think any of the leagues will let me join late?

If you want to be competitive, deffinitly look into the ACBA or Strike Force Tour tournements. The SFT is hdcp with a new scratch div. and the ACBA is all scratch. Theres an ACBA event at Glenfair this weekend. There are also some tour guys and regional bowlers in the ACBA.

Yes they will, but only for 1 or 2 tourny's. The SFT doesnt require a name on the back. I wear a polo and Dockers shorts or pants. There is a place in the Arrowhead mall that will do your name on the back of a polo for about 10 or 15 bucks.

oh  nice... well i may just be there this weekend then.  the other bad part is i don't have an established average with a league so that'll be a ball of fun.  and I'm not even a member of the USBC (just got back into the sport)

You will need to get a USBC membership for both. I dont think you need an ave. for ACBA since its scratch. But keep in mind, the ACBA is about $125 and your bowling against some of the top bowlers in AZ including a few tour guys. If you've be out a while, this along with the conditions they put out can be overwelming

My Blue Vibe arrived today, right before I left the house to go bowling. I got to throw it on a couple lanes for about a game or two and so far I like it a lot. The reaction is a nice smooth arc. Something that is very controllable.

I also got to try out my Nighthawk, and well...they both react almost the same. I imagine the Nighthawk will handle a bit more oil, but when it comes to reaction shape it's very similar. I've found my benchmark ball and a nice step under it!

I got a vibe 2 months ago. This is my first Hammer. I like the ball, but what's next. I have only been bowling for six months in a league. Any advice? The house has a medium lane condition.

Try something from the Raw Hammer series, the Doom, Pain or Toxic.  The Pain is the overall strongest of the three, followed by the Toxic and the Doom.  All are GREAT balls, and won't break the bank.

Mr. Lebowski, this is Bill Salnicker with the Southern Cal Bowling League, and I just got a, an informal report, that a member of your team, uh, Walter Sobchak, drew a firearm during league play. If this is true of course, it contravenes a number of the league's by-laws, and article 27 of the league...
