Black Widow Venom=very nice ball
« on: September 13, 2008, 07:06:00 AM »
I have had this ball since its release date (Aug 08) and have noticed this ball is getting better and better each time I use it. Last Monday I used it the 3rd game of league and shot 267 with it. Then on Thursday I was ask to sub on a friends team and shot 245 268 (last 7) 267 (front 9) for a 780. Its just a very smooth and controllable ball for me and the carry is above average. I clean it with Clean and Dull after each set and have kept the OOB finish. Its drilled pin above in the bridge with the cg out and mb in the strong position.

I was not a fan of the Black Widow line until this one.

I highly recommend this ball.

I threw a Venom at a Demo-Day held at Buddies Pro Shop, and was also VERY impressed! I really liked it! But for me to get a high performance ball like the Venom, i'd never be able to use it. My Hammer Razyr even hooks a ton.

One question for you though, jkiser. You say the ball is smooth and controllable for you, how is that? Because the Venom I threw was really, really flippy. I guess it just shows it depends on how the person throwing the ball throws it!

This ball is not drilled aggressive. The pin is in the bridge area, which for me makes it smooth and more controllable. I could hook it alot more if I wanted to but I prefer the down and in shot..I just change my hand position for less hook..

AS far as you not being able to use it, not sure I agree with that. Just drill the ball wesk. It doesn't matter how much you hook the ball if it has a weaker drill and you learn how to take some hand out of it, you can use it. Even drilled weak, the Venom will hit and carry better than a Razyr, pretty sure of that.. The stronger core of the Venom will dictate alot of that..

Smooth it is, maybe the batch we have ours from who knows???  It is a good league shot ball, does not like alot of carrydown when i have used it. Not the worst ball made but not the best ball made either, i like the solid and bite much more than this ball.

I would rate it at 8/10 no higher, the bite and solid are both 9/10 for me this ball is slighty i mean slighty better than the pearl. I have every one of these balls still and 2 of the bites.

If you want a better ball that handles more oil get the AMF Nkryption Code and you will know what the Venom was supposed to be.

Jeff U. better hope the new hi-po ball coming out is really really good, he does not have Mr. Graham's track record of winner after winner so far.

Jeff you seem like a nice enough guy i suggest hitting these forums more again like the old days and getting idea's.

I just ordered mine the other day. Hopefully we'll see how it goes this week and I can give it a run. I'm hoping for great things from it.

i never had much luck with the widow series because of the backend strength they offer.  I bowl on tough lane patterns all season during league and the bws and bite were both too strong off the spot for me to control.  Do you find the venom being a smoother ball off the spot because of it's characteristics or because you took your hand out of the ball?

I won a Venom for bowling a 300 in league and it is a wicked ball.  I usually start off with the No Mercy, and then during the 2nd or sometimes the 3rd game, switch to the Venom to play a deeper line.  it is really clean through the heads and saves energy well for the backend, where it has great continuation through the pins, thus great carry.  don't get many 10 pins with it, mainly 8s and 9s. it has become a real go to ball for me, but then at some other centers it is the only ball i will need.

I threw one and its very condition specific. I thew it on oil and it went as straight as an arrow.. so I took it down to 2000 much smoother and better over all reaction with less over under

This is going to be one of the biggest love or hate balls ever made, reminds me of the Total Nv already when it comes to that.

I personally still Have My Total Nv and love it though Still kicking strong after 50 games or so maybe it will die soon but maybe it never will.
