Has My DOOM Died?
« on: February 08, 2006, 11:06:09 PM »
60 to 70 Games.  Cleaned after every 3 games or even more frequent than that in many cases.  Any one else with the same problem.  Ball looks great, no track in it ect.

It's more likely needing a light resurface and polish.

This house changes the shot almost every nite.  And it makes no diff as to what nite I bowl or house I bowl in. This all seemed to happen about 6 weeks ago.  My Saw Blade still moves just fine. But 1 of my 2 black Pure Hammer's is starting to croak also. But they have a bunch of games on each of them.  The Doom deal kinda makes me half mad with the way we take care of equiptment.
Anyone have much luck dulling the cover or ??????????

Before you freak out take the ball to another house and give it a try.  You can also polish it with some ebonight polish and give it a nice shine.  Have you ever polished it before?  Does it look dull now?

Also, email Brain Graham at Hammer (bgraham@ebonite.com) for suggestions. He's very helpfully and response with in a day or two depending on schedule.

What have you been cleaning the ball with?  I have about 40 games on mine and I clean it after every 3 games.  I use ebonites energizer cleaner.  This cleaner seems to work very good.  Mine Doom is still holding up great.  I know I will eventually have to add some polish to it. However as long as it's working great im leaving it in box condition.

What is it doing?  This is happening at other houses?  How is yours drilled?  There has to be a reasonable explination.  I find it hard to believe that the cover will only last 70 or 80 games and then just die.  I have had particle balls last hundreds of games before needing a resurface.  Ever pearl reactive ball I have ever had always leasted a very long time.

IF the ball has truley died then just resurface the ball it will be like new.

Like I said mine worked just fine untill about a dozen games ago. My son & team mates are at a loss.  They can see no changes that I have made.  Besides the saw blade is working just fine.  I am lost.

Ebonite cleaner & Clean & Shine & have tried Clean & dull.  Also Simple Green from time to time & wiped off with a wet towel.  I have done this for years & had great results.

All I can suggest is to resurface the ball.  This is make it be almost like new.  I have about 40 games on mine and it is working great.  This is one awesome ball in my opinion.  I feel bad that yours is not working like it should.  I will let you know what happens when I get about 20 more games on mine.

The only thing that I suggest that you do is bring it to a pro shop and let them resurface the ball.  Then when you get it back put some magic shine polish on it.  This ball will work after that I can almost guarantee it.

I don't know what to think.  Since Ebonite bought Hammer I have bought a lot of there "stuff" & never had a problem like this untill this ball.  Hammer has contacted me & told me to resurface the ball.  I will have this done & see what happens next.

SHOCKER!!!!

ahhhh, sigh!

Hammer covers are not made by Ebonite.

Balls made out of Hopkinsville, KY, have been thrown by the last 2 POY's on the PBA tour, and possibly the last 3 if Tommy Jones wins it this year.

If anything, the balls out of "Hoptown" are some of the best on the market right now.    What ball is hotter than the ONE?  the ROAD HAWG?   Any?

So, if you are pessimistic about buying Ebonite and Hammer products, please don't.   If you BOWL TO WIN, or want a ball that Hits like a Hammer, then please do buy one.  For those of you that don't, well, don't be mad when Joe Bowler beats you with his new ball out of Hoptown!!
