Doom or Toxic?
« on: January 22, 2007, 01:23:47 AM »
If I wanted to replace a Brunswick Rampage, which one do you guys think would be the best replacement without being too jumpy like the Rampage is? Thanks.

Toxic because my DOOM is very jumpy off of the dry.

DOOM.   Doom is more rolly off the dry than the TOXIC.

I don't know that Sir has thrown the TOXIC, but that is the case.   I have had 3 DOOMs and have 3 TOXICs now. (1 drilled, 2 not)  And the TOXIC is much more responsive to the dry boards.

I have a Doom, but I have never thrown a Toxic, and from what I've seen and heard, the Doom is a lot less jumpy than the Toxic.

I agree with Jason.  The TOXIC jumps off the dry boards a lot more than the DOOM.  The DOOM is more controllable.  Overall the TOXIC is stronger than the DOOM.

Jumpy...I would rate both balls as very very strong off the dry.

Toxic just grabbier off the midlane area.

As to milder balls.  Boy...one has trouble beating some Rotogrips in their lower ends!  I have older stuff...Boom and Sonic X...strong but very smooth and continuous.  I've heard similar about the Mercury and Saturn.

REgards,

PS I"ve heard good things about both Vibes...but I haven't really seen it myself!  Or any thing I would write home about.

Blue Vibe is a good ball, but hands down the Toxic is a better ball than the Doom, JMO.

I have not thrown the Toxic yet, but my Doom is pretty strong off the point. Like azguy said the blue Vibe might be a good choice. Mine is alot smoother off the point. It doesnt cover as much ground, but its not a ton less either.

The Doom would be a much better replacement for the Rampage. My Toxic goes above my Rampage in my arsenal and is significantly stronger.

WHat I want to know is how you guys get rolly, arc-y balls liek the Rampage and the Doom to flip like a skid/flip ball. Every frigging tester in the world gets the Rampage and Doom to arc with normal and even strong drills and you guys get them to flip. Beats the heck out of me.

I have had several DOOMS.  The layout is important if your looking for the flip reaction.  Of course you need the back ends to be dry.  I guess it depends on the bowlers hand.

I have one drilled pin above the bridge (5.5" from pap), CG kicked right to 1oz and no balance hole.  This DOOM will flip on certain conditions.

Heck I have a PAIN drilled exactly the same as my DOOM and it will flip big time on the right conditions.

I agree. My second Doom is drilled like this which makes for a very nice flip.
