Hammer - Black Widow Bite
« on: February 18, 2008, 08:44:39 AM »
Well I was just about to order a Black Widow Bite from bowlingbowl.com, but after reading the reviews I am having second thoughts. I was looking for a bowl that had a good backend reaction but apperently the BWB hooks to early. This is based of the reviews. People also said they recieved deformed balls.

Is this ball everything its suppose to be or should I get something else?

Get it, you will be happy. Just make sure your driller knows what you want it to do. To many folks, IMO, have it drilled to aggressive, but wanting length and backend. Hard to have both worlds.

To second azguy, make sure that you tell the pro shop operator what you want the ball to do.  Depending on how much oil there is in your center, you may need a length drill and / or polish to get the reaction you're looking for.

Read the last post about the ball quality^^^

There was another post asking the same question as you pertaining to the ball's performance. I can't find it on the BR search but the jist of it was that there was a few poor reviews on BB.com and that the reviews were unfounded. I have the Bite and I had the BWS and the Bite is everything the solid is with some more lenght and 2-3 more boards hook.

The ball needs AT LEAST medium oil. Any less volume and the ball will not perform as intended.

GO with the Roto cell great on oil with carry down it hits like a mack truck both on light hits it scatters the pins all over the pin deck and when the cell hits flush the ball crushes the pocket.

Actually I prefer storm or Hammer.

My final question is What storm ball can BW Bite be compared to?

IMO the Bite compares closely with the Special Agent, with the Bite out-covering it by about 2-3 boards where I bowl.

Don't mean to hijack your thread, but how is the BWB compared to the BWP?

I have a label layout on my BWP and I'm really getting used to the control. Just wondering if I use the label layout on the BWB, will I get a similar or same ball reaction?
