Question about the Bite
« on: March 25, 2008, 11:20:39 PM »
I was wondering if anybody else was having problems with their Bite carrying.  It seems like I leave a lot of single pins with mine lately.  I have been throwing the ball great, but it just doesn't seem to carry.  Monday, instead of using the Bite, I broke out the Anger instead and shot a 732.  Same thing on Wednesday last week, I pulled out the BW Pearl and shot a 740, however saturday night I used the Bite and only had a 641, even though I was throwing it well.

Sounds like an entry angle problem to me...

Are the balls all drilled similarly ?
Sometimes a ball drilled agressive for max hook will burn up too much energy on its way to the pocket.  I've left more pocket 7-10 splits with my Bite in two months than I ever had with all my other balls combined.  My Bite is drilled stacked, ~4-inch pin to pap. I've always had much better carry with balls drilled pin over or under ring finger.  They get into a nice forward roll going into the pocket.  That could be the problem.

All of my balls are drilled conventional full foller with the pin at the 730 position

Hmm...maybe it's a matter of the ball bleeding off to much energy or it could be the number of games on it?

There are probably only about 40-50 games on it at most.  I don't even think there are that many.

What about surface finishes...that could do it too.

Right now it is oob, I just got a spinner.  Would you recommend that I change the surface?

Changing the cover must be done very carefully with the BW Bite. I needed a little more surface on my Bite so I "lightly" used a 2000 Abralon with a spinner but this wasn't quite what I was looking for. So again I "lightly" used a 1000 Abralon pad. Much to my amazement, I no longer had a serial number and part of the spider was fading away. Mind you, when I say "lightly" I mean only a couple of passes across th ball with little pressure. The Hammer label looks untouched. Must have engraved the number too shallow. Just be careful.
