is this correct about the NO MERCY?
« on: October 31, 2006, 01:33:19 AM »
The NO MERCY is more than just an asymmetrical ball without it's MB marking on it.  It also more than just an asymmetrical ball with a HART marking 5" left of where the MB should have been stamped.

If the NO MERCY was just an asymmetrical ball with a stamp left of where the MB really is then the CG would be off set big time.

I have a BW that has the CG off set to the right.  To the right of the line drawn from the PIN/MB.  I wanted to put the MB 2" right of my thumb.  Well this required a balance hole because the CG pushed the statics beyond the legal limit.

Now let's say the BW'S mb WAS SCRATCHED OFF.  Then we marked a HART 4" left of the MB.  This would then look similar to the #1 layout on the NO MERCY drill sheet.  Except it would still require a balance hole because of the CG.

So they not only marked a different location on the NO MERCY but the CG has been changed as well.

Let me know if i'm wrong about this?

joe,

call ron hickland at hammer and ask him before drilling that ball. He will tell you how to lay it out and make it work with the cg out like that.. I went to a seminar on the no mercy 2 weeks ago and ron was there and said drilling a ball like that is possible but was a little bit tricky..

Thats what I would do to make sure..

Currently have a No Mercy. When drawing a line through the pin and heart, the cg appears approx. 2 inches to the left. How would you drill this ball for a right hander, putting the heart near the track. cg postion would be well past 1 oz. negative. Is the stamped circle the cg position?

ChiTown, did you scale the ball yourself and get the actule CG to be that offset? I know with mine, the CG was off set to the left about 1/2"- 1" and after i got done scaling it, the CG was much closer to inline, though still kicked left a little.

Actuly, to go on an earlier post, I've gotten 3 games out of mine off a THS, though I was chaseing left all night long, i ended up moving about 15-20 boards left by the end of the night, and that really put me in the middle of the lane. The cover will still get through the heads because of how smooth it is.

I still am not completly sure why some people are having such a hard time figuring out the drill idea for this ball. Yeah, it was possibly designed with that sily USBC rule possiblity. Though This ball (theoreticaly) should act the same for leftires and righties.  And with the HART being marked (.012) and not the actule MB helps get the real MB in more of a strong position after drill. Do not be afraid of the ball, it works well, revs hard and keeps going. Trust the drill designs. But don't stop asking questions on it, other wise people will be following blindly.

My only question I think I have left on the ball (for now) is, Does any one know how heavy this core realy is?? I had only seen a mock model of the core, not an actule core. If the core is as heavy as we (me and boss man) think it is, then it could explain how this ball can do what it does so well. But thats just speculation with out real answers.

Chitown, Trying to set the ball with the low track drilling. At 4.5 inch the pin will be under and between the fingers. Swing the heart to the track and the cg will be well above the mid line and out there in the neg. zone. Top is 2.5, pin is approx 2.5
