Black Widow Sting ?
« on: December 01, 2009, 12:04:47 PM »
How come no one has anything to say about this ball. Not many reviews or comments. How does it compare to some of the other new Hammer balls.

got mine off a trade off here and it is a beast ball my first two games were 257 and 289(front ten) it is really an awesome ball. it gets down the lane and makes a pretty decent move on the back end

They couldn't keep them on the shelf. Not sure why its not popular in your area, but this thing is mean. Its just so much other stuff out there right now, some great balls get left in the wings. I mean you got track making a big comeback this year with the number system, you got Big B with the c-system and siege, columbia with the swing series and then the bedlam.. You have to do some serious research or you will need to be rich to keep up with the cool crowd!

Hmm..Lets see what I have in this bag...
a Frenzy, 2.5 percent of a C-System, and a Python Snake.. how can I loose....

....HG-300(2006 w/Desert Heat)...299 (03/15/09 w/Agent Orange)...HS-776 (Hot Sauce Pearl & Ebonite Magic)

I love my Sting...

...to me it's a great mixture of the bite (midlane read) and original (down lane pop).

I have the sting and like it. Was just wondering why I don't see anyone posting anything about this ball.

I just bought mine last week, but haven't really had a condidion where it is playable, it needs oil to get downlane.  What surfaces has everyone tried and how does the ball seem to generally take to them?
The ball is like any of the widows easily changed!  I tried box, 4000 and 500 with factor finish and honestly I like box / 2000 best.  I got good looks out of the other surfaces, but had too much overlap with my other stuff at those surface preps.

The Sting is the best of the Widow balls that I have thrown - a stronger Widow on steriods compared the original.

I have used this ball on most patterns shots - too strong for THS for me. This is a ball that I have in my bag for the tougher tournament patterns as it reads the patterns great for my ball speed & rev rate. For THS patterns, I already have a great arsenal - Black Vibe, Acid, Hot Sauce Pearl, Burn, & now the Nasty

The Sting is a very underrated ball which will work well for the lower rev rate bowlers on heavier THS patterns and most PBA leagues (Shark/Scorpion). For the high rev bowlers, you might want to alter the surface to use for THS & the PBA league patterns.

Just punched up a Sting this Thursday. Pin under the ring finger and took it to 2000 grit and polished it up.

I'm not sure the layout is the greatest for me but it rolls great, just about 5 boards weaker than I hoped.

Anyway, threw it that night on THS and shot 702. Backed it up last night out of town with a decent amount of oil with 824. Looks like my new go to ball for sure.

I like mine too.  It's great to go to (based on a 65* 4" 70* layout) on medium-light oil.  The cover is at 2000 with polish.
