Hazard drilling question
« on: November 20, 2008, 04:23:46 AM »
So im lucky enough to get an x-out Hazard (no mercy whuppin im pretty sure) and the everything is fine it looks but the cg is about 3 inches to the right of the pin and hart line...any suggestions on how to drill it?

also how do i know where the mass bias is because i believe this is one of the balls like the no mercy that doesnt have the mass bias located.

Ryan,

Your going to Want to try and have the HART locator as close to your track as possible. This will create for a stronger reaction, the further u can get the HART over into your track while keeping the static weights in check, would be best. Having the CG kicked over to the right out of line that much, is actually quite good. You could put the cg more towards the center of your grip while still having the pin up above or around the ring finger area, while still having the Heart going more towards your track. If you can get the HART at least two inches left of your thumb, that would be best...

Hope this helps...

thanks i appreciate it. I drilled a no mercy when they first came out with the number 1 drilling with the pin next to the ring finger on the right and the hart 2 inches left of the thumb, so placing the pin over the fingers should help it. i hated my no mercy it was just way to rolly

If this ball is the same core as the no mercys, the "actual" mass bias is 6 3/4 from the HART.  Draw a line from the pin to the HART. From the HART, Draw perpendicular to that line to the right.  Measure 6 3/4 and that is the location of the real mass bias.

The way yours is will actually allow it to be more skid flip.. it will allow you to move the pin and HART farther left and therefore getting the "real" mass bias to around 55 - 65 deg and the pin probably around 4 1/2 to 5 1/2 from your PAP.  This will depend on your PAP.
Your other mercy was probably close to leverage..that is why it was so rolly.
My beat'n was super rolly.  I wanted my HART kicked farther left but the pin just got rotated about the center grip therefore putting the pin at 2 7/8 from my PAP.. ball wanted to roll immediately off my hand.

ignore what it looked like and just go off of my description.

Sounds like it should be a better look that you got on your last No Mercy.

I would mark the actual mass bias just to make sure you don't go too far left with it.  I haven't had success with going past 60 deg
I have been thinking about getting another No Mercy, Beatn, or Whupn/Hazard. and having it drilled correctly.. Been looking at the videos again and the ball still looks simply amazing. Better than anything out there right now.
Do you know what the differnces were supposed to by in the three.. I know the Beat'n was supposed to be longer and about 4 or 5 more boards on the backend.. I don't know where the Whupn fit it.

With the pearl cover, you could only assume that it'd less over all hook, but more angular/backend movement. it's a shame this thing isn't a u.s. ball.
