Sling Blade to Doom
« on: March 27, 2008, 11:17:05 PM »
Hello Hammerheads,
i would like to know how a sling blade (OOB) would compare to my doom (4000 no polish).
A friend give his sling blade away (for free) and asked me to drill it RICO. I still think its a hype thing and don't know how its going to react. To get a slight idea what is going to be i would appreciate any idea about how comparable this to balls are. For me my actual Doom with 5x5 Layout is a kind off control Ball. I also used to have 2 other drilling's as skid snap and max leverage which give away.

The Sling Blade goes fairly long with the coverstock and has a great backend, but it's more even rolling due to the lower RG and Diff. I love mine (second 300 ball) and I just redrilled it for RICO. The ball still hits after twelve holes have been plugged/drilled (8 plugs/4 drilled).

Owned both of them with almost the identical drill and identical surface prep on both.  To me the Doom is about 4 boards stronger in total amount of hook, has a smoother break point, and gets into a roll quicker than the sling blade.

A RICO drill sounds like a good choice for the sling blade to me - even out that breakpoint a little bit and get it into an earlier roll... assuming that's what you want, that is.
