Title: Looking for a ball when the lanes dry out
Post by: wholagan on March 15, 2005, 12:14:48 AM
I bowl in the ABT and I am looking for a ball that I can use when the lanes are GONE.  We bowl 3-4 games then wait and then bowl 3 more (If I make the cut) by the 2nd game in the second round I am throwing my plastic ball and the reason why is that all my other balls are over hooking.  I change my line but I like to throw (right handed) 23-27 and go over 13-9 My AVE is 165 and ball speed depends on lane but normally med.  I also have MED REVS on the ball..
any suggestion please send..

Thanks
Wholagan

What is the rest of your arsenal? Do you have any lable drilled urethane? I keep a Blue Hammer and an axis-weighted wine Ultimate Weapon handy. You can also pick up old Faball Black Hammers and pearl urethane Hammers at BowlingBall.com. The new Hammer makes a red pearl urethane with a pancake weight block.

wholagan,

Yeah, if you're shifting from a Sling Blade to plastic, then you need a tweener. The Pure Hammer is a great ball, but it's partially reactive and maybe stronger then you need. I think the recommendations you see above are all good. I depends on what you're willing to spend. I do agree that something with a core is better for strike balls. Even the XXXL (polyester) from Lane #1 is great for desert shots.

If you still can get one, the TPC Shooter from Ebonite is a great ball for dried up/light oil conditions. With an aggressive drilling, this ball should fit well into your game/line.
