BW vs No Mercy
« on: January 24, 2007, 10:41:49 AM »
Ok, new member to the board but an active reader for months.  I would like to get others input.  Currently have a Blue Vibe, despite my request my pro shop guy drilled this thing pretty aggresive.  What I'm debating is should I get a BW or a No Mercy and have it drilled weak to cut down on the hook? (Not sure what layout would give me the best shot?) My favorite line is standing on 22-24 and throwing at 12-15, High Rev, 15-16 MPH.  This is my most comfortable line and would like to get something that would pound the pocket.  Thanks for your time.

Depends on how much oil you're facing. Their reaction is similar, but the No Mercy is meant to handle a degree more oil than the BW.

With normal drillings, BW is for medium to medium-heavy oil and the NM is for medium-heavy to heavier oils, depening on your "hand".

I have both drilled relitavly aggressive, and I found that the widow was a stronger ball overall. the no mercy doesnt stop off the dry though when the widow does...

What do you mean by "Stronger"?
What is the precise difference in ball reaction?

Don't get a NM or BW and drill it weak. That would be like buying a race car and putting off road truck tires on it.

How about putting the #4 layout on the No Mercy?  Does that make sense?

It’s up to you. I’m sure it will work for you. I look at it this way. If you drill the #1 layout and it’s too aggressive, then you polish it up a bit. If it’s not aggressive enough then you sand it some. Yes you can do the same with any of the layouts, but I believe the #1 layout to be more versatile.

BW=amazing ball
No Mercy=not an amazing ball

Go with the Black Widow and you won't be sorry.

I've already seen a No Mercy die after 20 games! Not impressed one bit!

I disagree, I have a no mercy drilled with #1 layout, and I love it. I have about 50 or 60 games on it now and it still hits like a truck. I used to never play the inside-out shot but with this ball I have so much room to play with its great.

I would disagree also. When I play on a sport shot, which is longer and flatter with not a lot of dry to the right, my BW sucks. The NM on the other hand gives me a very smooth arc to the pocket and carries well. It has not died either.
