Title: Loosing Faith.....
Post by: TOON on January 25, 2006, 03:56:07 PM
I am beginning to lose my faith in Hammers.  I still bowl well with them, but I've had a black Pure and a Big Blue Pearl crack on me in the last 3 weeks.  Unfortunately, they are no longer under warranty.  They were stored in my pro shop and were just sitting on the rack.  Anyone else having troubles like this?

I have had over 50 Hammer products, and fortunately have only had 1 crack on me.  That was a BIG BLUE solid.

Toon-  Find EBONITEHAMMER DSM on here and send him a PM explaining the situation.  He MAY be able to help.

The only ball I ever had crack was a Ebonite Crush/R and it sat in a front coat closet near the front door and probably went through too many temperature changes.

Oh splendid! This calls for a sexy party!

Sorry to hear about your luck.  The first Reactive ball I ever had was a Hammer 3D Violet...then I moved onto a Hammer 4D...loved both of them.  Never had a problem with the Hammer line.....except the Hawg..and that wasn't the ball, it just didn't fit my game.

My Arsenal:
Brunswick Ultimate Inferno, Columbia 300 EPX T1, Roto Grip Spare Tire

I guess there should be a disclaimer here...my EPX cracked..and it hooks less than my Spare Tire...but still it's sadly in my bag.

Had a vicious particle I loved. Got it out one day to clean it and found that it had cracked around the complete circumference of the ball, starting on one side of the thumbhole and ending on the other.

Hammer told me that they WOULD NOT warrant it because it had FINGER inserts in it.  That was NOWHERE NEAR the crack. I tried to explain that to them, to no avail.

Needless to say, no more hammer stuff around here, EVER! (except the old school urethane stuff)

This happens to balls from every company.  I would just call it bad luck.  Unless there is a major issue with a certain ball just count it as bad luck.

My pro shop guy told me that Columbia's epoxy ball ahs been coming back to his shop cracked.  He said that 5 came back to his shop.  He said that he wont be selling that ball anymore.  Now that isn't bad luck but a problem with that particular ball.

Take a look at ANY ball box.   Not just Hammer or Ebonite.  Look at all ball boxes, or if not on the box, read the warranty statement.   The majority of ball manufacturers have this clause in thier warranty statement.

How old was the ball when this happened?

Did you purchase this ball at a pro shop or online?
If at a proshop, you should have returned it there, and then let the pro shop owner contact the Ebonite DSM and work to get warranty for you.

Sorry, that you had a bad experience with Hammer.   The company is growing and developing more Hammerheads everyday.   I am very proud to say that I am one of them.

Even when and if, my contract were not renewed, I would still be a Hammerhead.   I have been for about 15 years, so why change now??????:-)
