my highrev
« on: May 14, 2005, 10:14:59 AM »
YAY....it finally arived last week after a month of waiting. My highrev came in. 15 pounds 4 ounces. 3 1/4 top with a 3 inch pin. I wanted to give it a similar stacked drilling to my Sharp Blade because i love my Sharp and when i gont get enough backend, i can whip this on out. I drilled it a few hours ago, and i was just wondering if this ball would do.

I threw a game with it today....it was a sloppy house shot, so this may be the reason, but, none the less, this thing was not coming back off the dry. It was probobly due to carry down, but if i got it outside when playing deep it wouldnt come back, if i squared up it would take off on me and go jersey, and if i played deep and tried to keep it in the oil it went jersey again. Do you guys think this is due to the sloppy condition? Or was it the way i drilled it?

BowlerKidR,

I can't give you a definitive answer since I have not seen you throw the ball.  But if I had to guess it may be the sloppy lane conditions.  The layout that I have on my High Rev is with the pin directly below my ring finger so that I can get the ball to rev sooner.  I've actually shined my ball up with a car polish: Meguiar's Deep Crystal System Polish.  It polishes the ball and leaves is with a tacky feel.  It gives the ball a much smoother roll down the lane with a better backend reaction off the dry.

I Drilled my High Rev Pin Axis and i absolutely love it.  I needed something that didnt hook at all, and new if i drilled this ball any other way it would have been more movement than i was looking for.  Basically for the guys dont that know what pin axis drilling does, basically it enables you to square up on shots, and not get any over reaction out of the ball.  This ball doesnt roll out at all, and stores so much energy, hits the pins like a truck.  Defintely a drill pattern only for those with above average revs.

I put my pin right on my PAP 5 3/4 and an 1/8 up.

If you take a look at his profile, I believe that he has a picture of his layout for the High Rev

Bowler-  I just looked at your pics in your profile.   It appears that you track pretty high.  That would most likely put your PAP at about 5" or better.   The drilling that you used on the High-Rev, is a rather strong one.   I have a feeling that when you try to throw the ball to the dry it is not making it back due to not storing much energy.   When the ball stays in the oil then it jumps off of the dry.   May want to practise a little more with it or possibly shine it just a touch.

This ball is very strong in the mid lane.

good, thats what i want. I need midlane for my heavy oil house, which is why i drilled it that way . I like the reaction with that lay out with my sharp blade so i drilled it this way for more flip. I just wasnt on my heavy oil shot
