Title: Need Help Identifying these Oldies
Post by: crusher267658 on July 25, 2012, 01:43:06 PM: Someone gave these to me about a week ago. Just curious as to which these are. I think the first one is an old Purple Urethane Faball. But unsure of these other two.

Were you even born when these came out? Unfortunately, I am old enough to have been bowling when the Navy Reactive came out, that ball is not a Navy reactive.

That's what they usually look like after long periods of use.Look lighter when they are new though.The only other thing I would think I could be is a navy 3d hammer...dont remember if they still used that logo at that point.

crusher267658's is one,His is just polished. The OOB was sanded.

Post by: batbowler on July 25, 2012, 07:19:29 PM: Yep! That's a navy reactive Hammer!! I had one that looked just like that when I polished it! I had the red and navy reactive and they both were a matte finish and I polished them!! Blue pearl urethane Hammer and a purple urethane Hammer! I had all three of those, plus a few other Hammers!! Plus, you have to remember that you're trying to compare a nib ball to one with a lot of miles, second complete redrill and even if not polished it's probably picked up a lot of lane oil!!!

Post by: Balldoctor on July 25, 2012, 11:02:19 PM: Hammer was one of the last to the reactive party. Their stance was reactive balls are just a fad. When they did come out, people lined up to get them.
Ended up being only mildly reactive. I had several.
The big R is the giveaway. This is the first reactive Hammer Ball.
Keep in mind, today's Hammers are made in Hopkinsville.
Hammers before that were made in two factories.
Old Hammer Heads will surely recall this.
