Hammer No Mercy Whup'n
« on: May 11, 2009, 10:16:48 AM »
I have a No Mercy Whup'n on the way and I am trying to get any feedback on the ball. I had a Beat'n but it was drilled with a 2" pin to PAP and didn't roll the way I wanted so I got rid of it.  I'm seeing that the Whup'n is probably the longest and strongest backend of all of them.  How does it compare to the original and th Beat'n... What lane conditions is it good for?  Does it need clean dry backends?

Is the preferred layout the best one to use??

375 RPM, 17-18 MPH, 45+ DEG AXIS ROTATION, 17 DEG TILT

I got my ball and unfortuneately it is a 2.5" pin so I won't be able to put the pin as close to my VAL as I would like.  I'm laying it out and it looks like I'll have the pin in the ring finger , 5" pin to PAP, with a 66 deg MB angle and a 53 deg to the VAL.
I know the HART is not the MB and the 66 deg is based on the actual/true MB spot..
The Hart is well left of my thumb.. somewhere between the 4th and 6th flare ring.

How should this layout react ???

I have one that is laid out with the pin over the fingers, and the cg under toward the center of the grip.  The hart is way left, but ends up in the strong position.  My hart is almost in the No Mercy label.  Ball rolls very well, and its my get out of trouble ball.  Can find the hole with it on almost anything out there.

What reaction.. skid flip.. smooth big backend..
how high above fingers.. What is the PIN to PAP??
Is the ball good for heavy oil.. does it need backends to hook or will it make a move in some oil..??

Like any pearl it needs back end.  But am surprised at the different shots it can be used on.  Pin would be about 5 1/2 to my pap, pin is not the high over fingers, have to say 1/2 or so.  Ball is ball is skid flip for me, but on longer patterns can square up and it does give me a smoother reaction.  Like I said its my get out of trouble ball.

I drilled up my whup'n with a 5 inch pin to PAP, 60 deg mb,
pin just below my ring finger with the cg below the midline.. Being a short pin I set it up this way incase I wanted to put a weight hole in the MB area to increase the reaction and backend..

All I can say is that this ball is awesome so far!!.. bowled with it two times really and have shot a 278 and 287.   The ball has a ton of backend and I have confidence that it will come back from almost anywhere..Backend can be snappy if I hit it off the dry but in some oil the ball has a smooth but big break..
seemed to handle carrydown decently.. only 1 ten pin so far..

Hammer needs to release this core and cover using a traditional MB mark so people don't get confused.. This ball is like my widow pearl was out of the box but times 5..
