Hammer Raw Doom
« on: December 19, 2005, 07:47:36 AM »
Well guys I bought two of these Raw Doom Hammers.  I really like the specs on this ball and thought it loked really cool.  I normally throw only Track equipment.  I feel Track balls match up real weel with me and I still fell that way.  However I was really excited to try this hammer ball out.  I owned a pure hammer (black) and really liked it.  So I bought two of these Raw Dooms.  Both are 15lb.  I drilled ball 1 with the pin above and in between the bridge(5 1/4" tom pap)with the cg kicked right to 3/4 oz no x-hole.  Ball 2 I drilled with the pin at the 1 o-clock position(about 4" from pap) with the cg kicked right to 1oz, x-hole below my pap.

I haven't had a chance to throw these balls but will later this week.  I can't wait to see how they react.  I will let you all know how they are.

IMO, the Hawg Wild and DOOM are a couple sleepers that folks will find are really great balls.

I can't wait to throw the Doom.  The cover looks like it will skate in the oil but from what I have heard high rev players will love this ball.  It does look cool.  Hammer doesn't get the respect anymore because ebonite bought them from Fabal.  I liked the pure hammer.  I will find out this week how this ball reacts.  Is this ball a lot stronger than it looks?  The reason I say this is because of how polished and shiny it looks.  The cover is very grippy.

Chi- I expect you to get 2 completely different reactions with those layouts.
I also expect you to get a good ball on the fry and a good ball on medium.

I have a Doom with a similar layout to the one you described with the pin above the fingers.   This ball skates like it is on glass then checkmarks off of the dry down the lane.

AZ-  I agree completely that the DOOM and the HAWG WILD are 2 of the most underrated balls out there right now.

IMO, and obviously it is biased, but Ebonite and Hammer are making some of the BEST equipment in the market today.

Well I got a chance to throw this ball last night.  I got about 6 games on it.  So far looks real good but I can't review it until I get more games on it and play on different conditions.

I can say this though I only used my Doom that has the pin about 5 1/2 to pap with the cg kicked right no x-hole.  I didn't use my stronger drilled one because I have to get the ring finger redrilled(wrong pitch).

I was able to send this ball way out and it recovered big time.  Plus the hit is VERY good.  I'm going to like this ball A LOT!  I will give this one a real review when I can try it out on more conditions.

I also feel that i'm going to start drilling most of my arsenal with the pin above the bridge cg kicked right close to 1oz with no x-holes.  This layout for me is just awesome.  Talk about backend recovery; OH MY GOD!

This is a mid-priced ball?  I can't believe it!

I am a high rev player i drilled mine with pin above ring finger with pin stacked underneath.  Needed small balance hole.  Broght back to half on side. I had problems with this ball in out of box finish. Had alot of over under reation.  I took cover down to 400 grit and repolished with ebonite factory finsh polish now this this ball is everything i hoped it would be excelent length with huge back end and throws pins everywhere. hope this helps you a bit .

People are so blue when the gas mask knocks them out.  They get sawed to pieces when the blade hits the lane and everyone knows they are Doomed when I set foot in the building!

Thanks for the review.  I had a great look with the OOB cover.  I'm going to keep the OOB cover on it.  I still haven't had a chance to throw the one with the pin in the stronger position.  I will test that ball this week.

I'm also simplifying things with my arsenal.  From this point i'm going to stick with pin above the bridge drillings on all of my future balls.  This layout for me is just awesome.  I'm sick of having all of my equipment drilled different.  I have found the best layout for me which pin above the bridge and NO-X-HOLE.  My Doom drilled like this is a killer.  Great ball!  I have two other balls in my arsenal with this layout and they work well also.

If you are thinking of buying the Doom and have a good amount of revs then this is the ball for you.  Great for med to light oil.

Where would the Doom fit in this line up: Diesel Particle Pearl, Big Block, Sling Blade, PURE Hammer black?

Oh splendid! This calls for a sexy party!

From what I have gathered the doom would fit above the sling blade.  Maybe a hammer guy will have some better knowledge than I do.

The Doom is one hell of a ball.  I can't belive this ball is mid-priced.  It really does have monster recovery on the appropriate lane condition.  The hit is fantastic.  I'm a Track guy but am really happy with this ball.  I can't wait to throw it again.  It's really fun throwing this ball.  I have not been a big fan of ebonite in years past but they really hit a home run with this ball!

Hey guys, I'm looking for a good medium condition piece, and am considering a couple different options.  Two of them are the Big Rig and the Doom, and I notice both are mentioned in this thread.  Right now I primarily use my V2 Power, but it gets too strong after my medium-heavy shot starts to dry out.  I also carry a Smokin Inferno and Uturn Pearl.  I haven't had a lot of success with the SI, so I'm still looking for something to fit between the V2 and the Uturn.  Any thoughts on the Big Rig or Doom in that spot?  How much oil can the two handle?  My league shot is freshly put down and a medium-heavy house block.  I like to play down the boards around 10, and I'm a medium speed, low rev player.  Thanks!

I'm not sure about the big rig but the Doom is an awesome ball. I have a high rev rate so I usually am swinging the Doom for way inside.  The Doom is truly a bal that every bowler should try.  It's that good!
