Pardon the potential stupid question, but if the Widow and Widow Pearl were the best selling pieces for Hammer, why not just Re-Release them as they were?  I would be all over another Widow Pearl....

Interesting. Wonder how this compares to the overseas release, which came out in April 2013?

http://www.legend-star.com/ball-black_widow_assassin.html

EDIT: Actually, it appears to be the same in performance. From the Booth's page:
Quote
It is wrapped with our NBT Solid coverstock, a solid version of the First Blood veneer. We have even used that familiar Black Widow logo on the ball. We are sure you remember what the Black Widow did when it first hit the market in 2006. The original Black Widow and Black Widow Pearl were the two biggest selling Hammer balls of all-time here at EBI.

From Legend-Star:

Quote

Coverstock: NBT Hybrid
Core: Gas Mask Core with Flip Block
Color: Red / Navy / Purple
Hardness: 75-77
Factory Finish: 4000-grit Abralon
RG 2.50 MB: 0.060
Flare Potential: High
Performance: Strong and Aggressive Backend
Best Lane Condition: Medium to Heavy Oil
Available Weights: 13-16

So we are probably getting an overseas release here, at the upper-mid price point.

Market is getting confusing!   BWP was a favorite of mine, Hyper Cell is great, DV8, MOTIV, Brunswick, Radical, Roto Grip, Hammer, Seismic... list goes on and on, all making great looking equipment.  Hammer lowering the price level on a competitive ball after RG just upped the HP4 line price by a smidge, might do some good for all of us bowlers.  Hammer introducing a 3 year warranty (I wanna see exactly what the warranty covers, just cracking, or covers that die mere weeks after purchase, and how you measure) could help all of us bowlers start getting more quality pieces, that will "last" more than just the half a season til the next release.  [I know, I know, ball maintenance. but seriously, just 2 months after purchase, do you really want to have the necessity to bake a ball every week just to see close to the same hook you saw out of the box?]

Go Hammer for innovating the 3 yr warranty, and lowering the cost of one.  Let's hope the whole industry notices that we bowlers would like some equipment that may last even a quarter of what bowling balls used to last.  My Track pieces back in the early 2000's lasted a long time, my BWP and BW lasted quite a while.   Since then, not so much.

I loved the Black Widow Pearl! And I always wanted the Bite and the Original. I would ditch Storm/RG for those to be brought back.
League: Pitch Purple, Destiny Magenta

Thanks for the info I am excited to get these new hammers when they release. Also it will be interesting to see what that 3 yr warranty will actually cover.

Frankly, I think it would have been a mistake had Hammer released yet another gas mask core ball at the premium price point. They've milked that cash cow for far too long and I highly doubt that it would have sold very well. Making it a little cheaper is not only smart, but I think necessary.

I'm curious about this as well. I'm especially curious what the limitations are with regards to drilling. I mean, most people use finger grips, which voids some warranties (from what I understand). Many layouts bring holes close to pins (which also voids some warranties, from what I understand). If these types of common things void the warranties, then the warranty is essentially useless and just marketing BS that makes the company sound reputable but which really stand for nothing. I mean, who cares what the warranty is on an undrilled ball? It could be a hundred year warranty but it's utterly meaningless if the warranty is voided once I stick holes in it.

Well said. The Deadly Aim sounds like a good ball, ill be interested to see how it does.
