I am interested in finding out what people think of the new hammer bowling balls now that they are being made by Ebonite. I haven't thrown Hammer equipment in a while but I was considering purchasing some and wanted peoples opinions of the balls before I bought. I know that some of the Vicious stuff is supposed to be pretty good. I am considering buying a couple of the Blade bowling balls, so opinions on those I would be very grateful for.

I'm a big fan of the Diesel particle balls.  I have a voluminous review of the Diesel Particle Solid in the reviews section.  I have found that the Diesel Particle Pearl is a great fallback from the solid when the lanes get to too dry for the solid.  It allows me to move back outside a bit and still get the same kind of ball reaction I was getting when the solid was working out there.  Unfortunately, the Diesel Particle Pearl is apparently now discontinued as of the release of the Turbo Diesel.  The particle pearl is probably still available some places if you act fast.  I don't know anything about the Turbo Diesel yet.  Bill of Buddies Pro Shop has the first review that I've seen up on www.bowlingballreviews.com.

I have not tried the Diesel Reactive Pearl either, but one of the better bowlers in one of my leagues has one and it is noticeably flippier than the particle versions.  I don't care for flippiness, so I've left that one alone.  It's still available if you're interested in it though.

I'm thinking of picking up the new Sling Blade. It looks like a decent pearl ball. According to BTM, it's a bit straighter and less flippy than the Blade pearl. Nice looking green color. The core looks almost identical to the original Hammer balls, although the differential figure is higher, so there might be some density differences.

Any reason why the Sling Blade was disappointing? I'm hoping that it's because it was tamer than people expected. I like to have a mild reacting low flaring pearl ball that hits hard in my bag, and that's not easy to find. Mild reacting & low flaring is easy to find - it's the HITS that's hard to come by.

Fairly satisfied with the Blade Pearl, have it drilled differently than my other equipment (5x5 pin above middle finger), and it goes straght until it finds DRY. The hit though is remarkable, and thats why it is in my bag 90% of the time. If I keep my speed down ballmoves a coupl of more boards (duh) and still hits just as hard. If they are also going n closeout willprobably pick up another one and drill it more aggressively. But then again, nothing beats he ol' Blue Hammer, I can still get it to hook more than some of my "high end" equipment when the lanes get spotty. Gotta love Hammer...

I love the whole diesel line.  I have the diesel pearl and it works great on medium oil, I used it alot on the sport shot and it just hits hard.  I am also in love with the Diesel Particle solid.  This ball is just so versitille.  I can score pretty much anywhere on the lane.  I can score with it on synthetics, or wood.  Ball just has great movement.  I also have the blade pearl reactive.  This ball is a good medium oil ball also.  It has alot more power than most people think it does.  I ended up using my blade pearl more the my vicious reactive so I got rid of that one.  That one was alright had a nice even arc but for the money I would pic the blade or the diesel series anyday.  Just my 2 cents worth.  Derek
