Hammer Benchmark
« on: May 26, 2009, 04:46:11 AM »
any suggestions on a Hammer benchmark ball? I'm building my new arsenal and need a benchmark ball, i was thinking the acid or maybe the onyx vibe but not sure. What do you think? Also ebonite suggestions would be fine too because they own hammer.

Ebonite is definately a Gamebreaker if you can find one, is the greatest benchmark of all time IMO. Hammer doesnt really have much thats a benchmark reaction IMO, but maybe an Acid drilled 4 x 4" or pin under might give you the reaction your looking for.

A Blue Vibe or Onyx Vibe with a matte surface (2000 or 4000) and a middle of the road layout should be an ideal benchmark.

How do you have your Acid set up?  I was thinking about getting one (or a new release) drilled with a simple label drilling (maybe with the pin swung a little toward the ring finger) as a reference ball.  I have skid-flip and leverage covered.

Ther Oynx with some surface on it would be a good start...but for me personally the first ball out of the bag is the Acid. I use the Acid on alot of different stuff, If the Acid is not the right ball for what I am bowling on....it will usually tell me which ball I need to be using.

A Psycho is a bit more snappy than the Acid, right?

An Acid, a Psycho (sightly roughed) and a dull/matte finish Blue Vibe all have the potential to be very good benchmarks, depending on the bowler's release specs.

The Acid is the best benchmark ball that Hammer has right now! This is the 1st ball out of my bag which will let me know if I need to go stronger or weaker. I have 4 Acids in my arsenal, 2 of which I use on a regular basis - pin under 5x5 (cg on midline) & pin up (6x5). I can use these balls on most house patterns.

I am really looking forward to throwing the Black Vibes as my Blue Vibes have about 200+ games on them, but still roll great. I think this ball will compliment the Acids very well.

will the acid be stronger than the venom if both are pin down?

I feel that the Acid is much stronger if drilled the same as a Venom. It is earlier, yet stronger movement in the backends than the Venom. I hope this helps.
