I had a BW Venom that I really liked. What would be the closest in the new Widow series? Any thoughts on any or all would be appreciated.

I'll let Plowboy have have the last answer, but If staying in the BW line, I'd say Red Widow Legend would be the best match, followed by the RWL Solid, then rounding out would be the BWL. That would go from longest to most aggressive. But it would be down to those three, But I'd definitely say in that order.
Was the BW Venom clean through the heads? I ask, as I didn't follow the BW line at that time (I was solely Ebonite at that time).
BL.

Thanks bradl. The BW Venom was clean through the heads. I loved the reaction and just have not jumped on the any of the new ones yet, but want to make an informed decision.

I have all three of the new Black Widows (with exception the RWL Solid) and all of them are good balls IMHO. The original BWL is by far my favorite of the newer Widows due to it's consistency. If you are looking for something with more length overall then I would go with the RWL.

In regards to the new Widow line... The closest comparison for the Venom would be the original Legend as the Venom was a solid coverstock (but weaker)...
From least hook to most hook on the new Black Widow line - Red Legend (pearl - longer & angular), Legend (Hybrid - clean / smooth continuation), then Red Legend Solid (Stronger / earlier).
Hope this helps!

Plowboy, how close is the Red Legend Solid to the Jet Black assumibg they were at equal surfaces?

With the same surface prep, it is not close at all... the Red Legend Solid is stronger/earlier than the Jet Black Taboo... The coverstock on the Jet Black is much longer even with it at the same surface of 2000... You will definitely see a big difference in the motion between the 2 balls... Hope this helps!
