NIB?

I sold a 15lb one, NIB a couple years ago and got 500 shipped, and actually had higher offers than that, but sold it to someone I knew that was on staff and wasn't going to turn around and try and sell it for more.

A few years ago, some balls would bring those kinds of prices. It won't bring $200 today probably.

Sub $300.

Too many widows...made over the years.

Plus most of the OG widow covers are phased over and look bad

$300+ all day long. Original is the most sought after. Also I’m very confused by the ones posting saying there are much better balls made today. My question is what constitutes a good ball?? How a particular bowler matches up with a certain ball. Me personally, all of my 750+ series this season have been shot with older equipment. Original Widow, original roto grip theory. Original 1998 black Nighthawk. Yes these balls don’t have the new massive massive hook, but these balls provide me with the exact shape and ball motion that I’m looking for, and that’s what describes a great ball

A question for you guys who think an OG Black Widow will bring more than $200. Would YOU pay $200 for a NIB one?

I'm not selling one, just curious to why you think someone else would pay that much for an older ball. I buy and sell a lot of stuff, and older balls are not bringing the prices they did three+ years ago.

The only balls I can think of that would bring $250 + would be the Virtual Gravity, Virtual Energy or X-Factor.

Not counting balls like the Gold Crown of course.

I've been selling a lot of used and older new balls over the last couple of months and that's just been my experience based on sales in my area and national. I've considered purchasing a large inventory of older NIB balls and I need to determine real actual values for each one or I'll lose my ass on them. My value of the OG Black Widow is just an exercise in practice. Let's watch and see what he can really get for it.

http://www.reconditionedbowlingball.com is a good place to get basically the retail price of used stuff single drilled at least.

Maybe it's a regional thing, but the OG Black Widow was the biggest selling ball of it's time, and has a bigger lasting image here (Midwest) than the Original Virtual Gravity (which was a great, very well received ball in it's own right).

NIB is so rare, and with collectors out there, someone will pay a hefty amount for it.

Wow, some of those prices are really high!
I have access to a 14 Lbs Storm IQ Tour plugged in excellent shape and I can't get $129 for it. I figured maybe $80 over the long run or $70 cash now.

And to comment on paying $300+ all day long, maybe in thought or prediction but much different when money changes hands. I see someone buying a new ball for $230- and $down drilled and pushing the sale of this ball down the road further extending the sales cycle longer. Or one that has a OG Black Widow already thinking I'd like to get another but feeling assured that one out there exist for $300+ if they really need it but never actually pulling the trigger on it.

That's what I meant by better ball and to elaborate on my pricing thoughts.

Yeah they are the high end (though got very good price on my Nemesis, but yeah Green Gargoyle that one hurt a little) but with them you know you are getting as good a single drill ball (some NIB and multiple drills also) as you can which does have value.  None of this passing off 14# as 15# garbage like on ebay (rarely buy now without ball on scale pictures).  As for high prices I guess you can always shoot for the moon.   But I know I tend to sometimes have more money than brains and the only older ball I ever paid even close to $200 even shipped for was NIB Purple Sumo which is quite a bit rarer than a BW NIB.  $200 is a strong mental barrier for buyers imo.

Still when it comes to shooting for the moon tough to beat this shameless ebay seller - https://www.ebay.com/sch/m.html?_nkw=&_armrs=1&_ipg=&_from=&_ssn=bw_internet_sales&_sop=16

You definitely can't beat asking $1000 OBO for a DRILLED Pro-Hook Extreme for total insanity:

LOL, yea the idiot in Hawaii has been doing this kind of thing for years. He has a ton of old stuff, but he is clueless on what people will actually pay.

Although a friend and bowling partner of mine paid $1200 for Sur D Pro last year from a pro shop in Carson City. But at least it was a NEW Sur D Pro...
