No Mercy, back from the dead!
« on: March 19, 2007, 06:39:53 PM »
I've soaked the ball, scuffed it up with a Burg Scotch Brite, tried some rough buff, all to no avail.  I took it into my local pro shop, Fox Bowl in Wheaton, IL (home of PBA bowler Steve Jaros), where he put some surface on it on the spinner.  Took it to practice after league was done, and the thing was hooking off my hand (maybe not the best combination, working on getting softer speed and throwing the NM with no heads, eh) and promptly put it in the bag.  Good, it's fresh for league Friday Night.

I'm happy, I thought the ball was cooked.

The NM is definitely a maintenance hog.  I resurface mine probably once every few weeks but it's brand new every time and hits like it's never been used before.  I know that people say it sucks up oil like nothing else but that's not the problem I ran into.  My issue was that it picks up a lot of scuff and dirt from the lanes so you really need to clean it after each week or preferrably each set.  For me though this ball rolls a heck of a lot better with aobout 6 games on it and no cleaning.

Glad you got yours back into shape!  I bought a spinner which really helped my game since I could do proper maintenance.  Hopefully the cover lasts a little longer for you now!

Every couple weeks lightly scuff it up on the spinner.  Don't do a complete resurface job, just hit with what ever grit your using.  I also give mine a hot water bath every 25 games or so.

The NO MERCY is the most maintenance needy ball i've ever owned but it's worth it!

Hi Group,

I rarely post in here but since I have a 'No-Mercy' also I guess I can now

anyway, I have been throwing my 'No-Mercy' for around 3 months and I bowl a lot. I'm in 3 leagues and I also practice on Sunday mornings (discount time) every week

so I use my 'No-Mercy' a lot, having said that, I have not lost any power on my 'No-Mercy' what-so-ever. I have a spinner in my garage so I am always doing

something to it in fact I have almost sanded away the 'No-Mercy' logo but its still there.

I give it hot water baths about once a month but I do always clean it often on my spinner or by hand at the lanes. I also always leave it at around 600-800

grit as my house always has oil out there to play in so as you can imagine the ball gets whacked out really fast from the oil. Btw, its the best ball I have ever had!!!
