taking opinions on drillings for a Nm and Bw
« on: December 31, 2006, 06:54:30 PM »
Is there anyone who could give me some advice? I just got a new NM and BW neither one has been drilled yet. I don't know much about drilling because my first ball was a black cherry bomb that I got used at the local pro shop the ball had been a lefty's ball and I'm a righty but anyway the guy that drilled it asked me a few questions and drilled it. It worked fine for me I avg about a 190 and i was lookin to improve on that with my new balls so where do I begin? What ball should I use and When?

It will help if we knew the layout, ball speed, rev rate, pap. Things like that help ESPECIALLY on the No Mercy
--------------------
med-high revs
 17 mph ball speed
 med axis tilt

 Current arsenal:
No Mercy WOW WOW WOW did I say WOW!!
 Road Hawg
 Pain
 Doom
 Black Widow
 Ambush
Big Time (for sale 5-10 games)
 Blue Vibe
 White Dot

Look at the ball and post where the pin is (should be a yellow dot on the ball somewhere around your fingers) and where the cg is (should be within 1-4 inches of the pin. It's not colored in but it looks like someone took a pen and pushed it into the ball)

I have 2 NO MERCY'S.  My first one has the #6 layout on it.  The pin is above the bridge(5.5" from my pap) with the HART 3/4" left of thumb.  This ball has a good mid lane read and a strong back end.

My second NO MERCY has the pin above the ring but a little right.  It's 4.5" from my pap and has the HART 3" left of thumb.  This ball has a little stronger mid-lane read than my first one.  It also has a bigger back end.

It seems to me that the further left one moves the HART the bigger the back end becomes.  I was able to move mine 3" left of thumb.  This put the CG 1/2 oz of negative side weight.

I had my No Mercy drilled with the number 2 drill and all though the ball did what it supposed to do it wasn't for me. I had it redrilled with drill #6 it also did what it was supposed to do, but it wasn't for me. I threw a teammates yesterday who is a fellow lefty. She has drill #1. Jackpot! I wish I would have got mine drilled like that the first time. Her ball has 4inch pin and the cg, pin and mass bias are all in line. Make sure you get a ball with perfect specs and chose the right layout. 2cents
