Toxic or Black Widow?
« on: May 13, 2007, 06:32:40 AM »
Hi, i am coming to this board to ask for your advise since most of you have thrown one or both of these balls. I have always thrown Brunswick equipment and after beginning to bowl at more than just one house / shot, i have realized that brunswick has nothing that goes long and turns right (im a lefty). I have narrowed my choices down the these two balls. Which one should i get if i am wanting something that will just go very long and snap, something very angular?

About me: Speed ~ 18mph  Revs ~ 300-350 PAP ~ 4 3/4 over, 1/8 up. Typically like to play up the 1st or 2nd arrow with maybe a little bit of 'belly' but i am comfortable playing nearly any shot.

Thanks, and feel free to let me know if you need more information about me/ my style

Black Widow.  Check out youtube for some videos.  There should be thousands of them.  Buddiesproshop videos are easy for me.

Dont get a toxic, I had one and hated it. From my experence(a lefty as well) the shot really wont break down enough for this ball to be your best choice, if anything it will carry down and make the ball worse. Its pretty much the most condition specific ball I have ever owned. If there is too much oil it rolls like plastic, and hits like it too, and if there isnt enough, you will not be able to keep it on the left side of the head pin, because its SO strong in the backend. That being said, get a black widow, it works on 80% of shots(not VERY dry, or REALLY oily, unless drilled strong) where the toxic works like 15% of the time(when there is a perfect ammount of oil, and there is fresh backends)

Totally agree, got to be perfect to strike consistently, way way to much over under.

I would honestly say doom if you are looking for something long and hard snap to the right. I have one drilled pin under with a weight hole on PAP, and it turns right like really strong and really angular (im also a lefty).

I love my Toxic. I play off of the second arrow with it most of the time. It goes long and has a smooth yet strong move to the pocket.
With my widow drilled skid/flip, I play off of the third arrow. It goes long also, and is more angular.

I have thrown both, drilled pretty much the same. Have a Toxic and thing it's a great ball. Took the cover to 1000, play between the second board left of second arrow, to first arrow, lane conditions dictate which.

The Widow I had to go more right than my comfort zone, BUT, it's also a great ball, just not for me.

My vote...Toxic
