Title: no mercy question again
Post by: toomanytenpins on November 13, 2006, 08:04:23 AM
I am wondering if the over heating of this ball due to it getting caught in the return wheel track would cause the ball to be damaged to a point that it would loose its reaction. It was resurfaced to 2000 which did nothing and then i had my driller take it to 4000 but still nothing like it was new and i only have 4 good games on it. It looks fine ,but all the hook it had is gone.

I drilled one with the exact #1 drilling and it hardly moved for me either.  Others seem to rave over it, but I've found that strokers with lower revs can't do much with it.  Crankers make it hook the lane, but what don't they hook the lane with?  I've said it before and I'll say it again, too much hype for this ball.

I/ve only used mine for 18 games. I am a low rev'er, used #7 and love the ball. I did clean it with Clean N Dull after 6 games. I did notice a slower break to the pocket after the 6th game, so I cleaned it and it was like a NIB ball. The color, or lack of, came back and IMO, that's what one wil have to do to keep this ball in OOB condition.

Mine also had a fight with the belt, a few scuffs, no scratches, and the C N D took them off with no problems.

I drilled my wife's N/M, and Tues night she'll use it for the first time. I already know what to do to keep her's in good shape, but I'll let you know what she thinks of it, BTW, she is a slower speed, med/higher hand, low tracker, so I used #2 for her layout.

Maybe this has helped, maybe not.

if you have any other equipment try throwing both and see what the reaction is between the no mercy and what else you have.for example,my no mercy picks up the mid lane when my widow won't even make the turn.last night I was rolling my n.m. 35-15 out to ten but for my widow I had to shoot straight up 7 board allmost a straight shot to the pocket.I switched to the widow because my n.m. was driveing too hard.with the widow I left some ten pins, looking back I wished I'd stuck with the n.m.,eights and nine pins are easier to convert.I'm still not used to it yet but all I can say is this ball is a tank.reminds me a little of my old super carbide but it dose'nt burn up as fast.

I would think that it's damaged.  If your not getting hook out of it then there is something wrong.  Yes, I would assumme that if a cover get's hot enough that it could damage it.

Have them replace it!
