Title: No Mercy vs Black Widow Vid @ Buddies
Post by: Noy on October 23, 2006, 08:51:19 AM
Hey all, for all of you who have wanted to see a comparison between the two, buddies has one in thier No Mercy video.  It was surprising to see that the NM seemed to go a tad longer than the BW (could just be me), though it is definitely more arcy.  Watch it here:

both balls look close to each other but the no mercy looks to have slightly better continuation into the pins.to close for me to call.

All i have to say is.. WOW! Six Pack you are right about the reactions, but i checked again, and the last shot he throws, it looks like the Black Widow makes a hard arc when it's comming back, while the No Mercy flipped on that line. It is a close call, but the No Mercy looks great!

first off, wow I have not had to wait so long for a vid to load since I had dial up... Second, they look really close, too close IMO. It seems to me, if you dont have the BW then you have the choice, but if you do....you shouldnt bother... thats what I saw from the vid anyways

both look like they compliment each other well, but damn what a kick butt song they used what is it??? imho they no mercy looks a little more angular than the widow and the widow is a smooth strong arc.

my widow with the 5" pin to pap has all kinds of length and backend, more than what I need but it's fun.I did take my cover down to 600 grit for a heavier shot and it still had all kinds of length and energy to thrash the pins around.but I think I'll have to pass on the no mercy eventhough it is a cool ball too.I love the direction Hammer is going with their stuff.

Vicarious by Tool. Great song and great video from Buddies. Had to wait hella long for it to load, but it was pretty well done. If I can get anything close to that reaction out of my Widow, I'll be one happy camper.

hehe, for those who waited soo long for it to load, its probably because so many people are accessing it at one time.  If you want, right click it and go to "save link as" and you can download the vid to your HDD.  Then you can watch it all you want

great video and great comparison... wish i had the digital equipment to work on something like that haha

same comparison i have made... widow makes its move later and is is a tad smoother off the break... the no mercy rolls way hard off the break, reminds me of the ONE

the no mercy does have a kick to it.  The Black Widow looks really smooth in this vid.  Both balls on this condition look powerful.

HMMM! I wonder what the reaction video of the NM would look like with the drilling #6 layout? The BW I saw on TV Pro tour was with PIN above bridge and between fingers. Ball went long and snapped back hard! Anyone know if there is a difference in these balls coverstocks?  handmeDN

The simplest solution I have found it to light polish the BW and it creates a bigger range of difference.  In the video they are very close and I think it is to close to split hairs over.  Polish it up

great video best i have seen the no mercy is definatly stronger and the no mercy was drilled quite a bit weaker than the widow and still covered more boards and continued threw the pocket stronger

It would if the bowler had higher revs.  That is the layout designed for lower rev bowlers right?   So it's going to flare a lot early.  So I would say it depends on the bowlers style.

First off that video is great thanks Buddies for it.
I guess I shouldn't have been surprised they both tracked so similar as they are supposed to both go long and hook hard.  I was hoping they both would have more of a Skid/flip reaction than such a smooth arch that they exhibited especially the NM as it does have more on paper.
I also wonder what the next ball based on the HART core will do as they always seem to step it up on the subsequent ball's in a line, and the BW seems to be the latest incarnation of the Big Blue line.

Well I not sure that more of a skid snap would be good?  I mean it seems both balls have a good strong reaction.  I guess it's personal preference.  I don't care to much about how fast the ball changes direction.  I'm more concerned how it reacts to dry.  I want the ball to work well on difficult patterns.

I'm picking my NO MERCY up on Monday.  It may take me a few months to see how it performs on a couple of difficult patterns.

Now if your looking for more skid snap i'm sure you could get that from polishing the ball.

if you play on a wet/dry the widow will snap hard but I like to keep it in the oil, then the ball is smooth and the carry is great.
