Hi. I bought a red pearl urethane off EBay and am in the process of plugging it but I noticed it doesn't have a serial #. Just says made in the USA. Is this ball legal? Does anybody know anything about this ball? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

It's legal but one the (relatively) new USBC rules was that for honor awards to be given the serial number of the ball had to be entered on the form that the secretary submitted. The rule even allows you to re-engrave the serial number if it had been sanded off, but it has to be there.

I'd guess then that you wouldn't be eligible for honors awards shot with this ball.

u should contact the usbc and see about that just engrave some smal numbers and letters since the usbc doesnt require the numbers just asks if theres any have your pro shop guy engrave them

Thanks for the replies. Probably won't shoot any honor scores, LOL, with this but am still curious why there is no serial #. Could this be a blem?

Even blems have serial numbers.

Numbers get erased as a ball is sanded. So, while I'm not sure how deeply the number was engraved on this ball, it was either sanded a lot of times or it was sanded a lot for a few times to remove the serial numbers. In any case, I'd have your pro shop check the circumference to see if this ball is too small or not. They have a ring that the ball should pass through. That is also a possibility.

Also a possibility that I need glasses. I found the number when I had it in the spinner. I can't begin to figure out why I didn't see it before. I know I looked the ball all over. Strange. Thanks for the help anyways.

Which rule is that? The current award form only asks if there's a serial number on the ball. It doesn't require that you write in the serial number itself.
