I received my new Taboo last week, and drilled my first one just like my go to original Taboo. Pin directly under the bridge, mass bias at 45 degrees with a hole down on the VAL 3 inches deep. Have a 4 5/8 by 1 7/8 up PAP, so it ends up being about a 4 1/2 x 4 1/2, my main layout.
Immediately out of the box, the new Taboo got slightly cleaner through the front part of the lane for me, but came off the spot quite a bit harder than the original, and hooked about 3-4 boards more overall. After some play, and allowing the cover to break in, I expected it to tame down a little, but actually only started making a more pronounced move to the pocket, but even more predictable. Quickly I knew this would be an even better option on fresh slicker patterns than its predecessor.
I have not had many chances to throw it yet, and when I do I will follow up with more reviews. But early on Hammer has another gem and a great counterpart to the original. I plan to drill the second one pin up with shine to see if it can be even cleaner with a stronger move downlane for some more broken down patterns.
