Dark Legend compared to Gamebreaker 2 MVP
« on: March 29, 2016, 10:35:26 AM »
For anyone who has used both, how do they compare?  I love the MVP and I am considering getting the Dark Legend as well, but wondering if there is enough difference in the balls.  Would they be to close, or would something like a Warrior Elite compliment the MVP more.  I do not see Heavy oil much.

Dark Legend would be a step up from the MVP, and the Warrior Elite is a step up from the Dark Legend

correct... ^^^^^

The Dark Legend would be a good step up (about 3-5 boards stronger overall) than the MVP. I love both of these balls & use them a lot.

The Warrior Elite is about 3-5 boards stronger overall than the Dark Legend....

Good Luck & keep us updated on what you decide to do!

I coincidentally find myself with the same question!

As a 63 year old, back into bowling after many decades, I joined a senior league back in December and spent the last months learning the modern game as much as I could. I bought (on the advise of the local PSO) an Ebonite Cyclone.

I don't have very high revs or ball speed but am learning the fundamental mechanics and lane conditions. At this point, I'd like something stronger than the Cyclone (especially on a little heaver oil) so as to learn what other balls can do and what I can do with them.

I'm also considering the Gambreaker 2 MVP or the Hammer Dark Legend. My question: Is the GB2 a big enough step up from a Cyclone for me to see a significant difference in ball motion? Will the Dark Legend be too big a jump and I won't be able to control it (it's a little scary!)

Some say "baby steps, don't jump in the deep end of the pool!" Others say "get the hook in a box, you'll learn it!"

Any advice greatly appreciated.

The GB2 MVP will be a great step up for what you are looking for compared to your Cyclone and your current skill set. This will help you advance without going too much ball... As you progress in getting your game stronger, then you can fill in the gaps of equipment that is out there for the patterns that you face. I would recommend the GB2 MVP for you and enjoy the stronger ball motion that you will see from the Cyclone.

I wish you all the best and continue to enjoy the game that we all love!

Thank you for the advice and encouragement.

Question; am I to understand that I will get a stronger ball motion from the Cyclone, not the GB2 MVP? I thought it the other way around...

i have been throwing both of these rocks since the dark came out.  for me with similar pin up drills I can play the same line with different hook shapes.  start leaving tens with the dark pull out the MVP for a little more kick to get the ten out.  just my 2  cents

I bought the GB2 MVP last night. Significant difference from the Cyclone but not huge. Bigger back end. Almost bought the Storm Fight but couldn't handle the scent.

Very happy just to have tried something different. Can of worms is opened; now I want them all!

Off to my senior Thurs. AM league to see what happens...

Thanks all for the input.

Having had the Gamebreaker2 MVP for a little while now I'll say this;

Most reviews are written by players much more advanced than I and aren't always written with the intermediate bowler in mind. What's good for the inconsistent player who still wants a stronger ball isn't necessarily suited for the the high rev, high speed, high average bowler.

I love the GB2! I immediately saw a huge difference from the Cyclone, especially when rolled side by side. It's predictable, forgiving yet strong.

My league average is 155 with only 3 200+ lifetime. Yesterday, GB2 helped me to a 258!

I suspect that were I to have chosen something asymmetrical, less forgiving and stronger (like the Dark Legend) I'd not have been as happy. But that day will come!
