Polishing a No Mercy ?
« on: March 02, 2007, 11:37:45 PM »
Since the No Mercy is so good out of the box at 4000, has anyone polished one up to see how it plays. I may want to get another one to play lower, if you get a good reaction out of it. Mine is at 2000 right now and I love it. I want to know if anyone tried a polished No Mercy on Medium conditions?

I polished my NM once.  I got a lot more length and was able to use it on light oil.  The break point was a little hard to control(really strong) with the polish.  I was able to use it on light oil though.  I like this ball best without polish.

I thought it might be like unleashing a wild horse. The ball is still going to snap off the dry, I guess polish is just delaying the great hook of the No Mercy.

Yes the polish is going to give it a lot more length on drier conditions.  It's not going to tame down the reaction unless you use a "slip agent" type of polish.  I wouldn't recommend that type of polish for this ball.

Ebonites factory finish polish or magic shine are some good ones.

The NM has such a powerful hook that when used on light oil or dry conditions it can be hard to tell that it's burning up because it still hooks a lot.  I can usually tell it's burning up on off pocket hits.  If this ball is not hitting really hard then chances are it's burning up or you missed on the release.  When this ball is released correctly on the right types of conditions it BBQ the pins.
