Title: Purples Prices on Ebay
Post by: 2handedrook12 on November 22, 2019, 12:05:09 AM
Not sure if some of you have seen the prices of Purples since the transaction, but they are starting to climb pretty high. Saw one going for about $190. It will be interesting to see the difference (if any) between the old Purples and the new ones poured by Brunswick.

One I was tracking (15#) went for $201.99 ($180 +$21.99 shipping).  The last one (15#) I can find on Ebay is at the same price just stated, but the auction is not over yet.  Stay Tuned!

Not true for 14# and 15#.  Click on either of these weights and it comes up "Out of Stock".  However, 16# is available at the standard price of $126.95.

Supply and demand.  I immediately grabbed a 15# on Friday for old price when heard news even though already have one in light 16# only use for practice.  Don't really need but seen how that Made in USA stamp on Brunswick old stuff is a powerful psychological motivator and USA PH are already somewhat scarce with very little chance of more being ever made with that stamp.  Seems silly but people are silly (see arguing over Hy-Road batches even from same factory).  Worse case decent price for one of best urethane balls ever made (which might give to lefty son eventually).

I'm gonna hold out to see if the Black Widow Purple Pearl Urethane makes an appearance anywhere, then make the call.

But I will admit, I have seen a lot of balls on Ebay either skyrocket in price, or go very scarce...

If I got one it would be 16. Always the fear I get one and end up wishing I got the *other* purple ball instead (ADP).

The 16 lb one is by far the better ball imo

Definitedly especially for me not having 57 billion revs  Always relative though, if whatever I get next just isn't a good ball on the lanes I have then that's no fun.

Anyway going to ask the pso if he can get one in 16 before doing the bowlerx route

The last Hammer 15# Purple Pearl urethane I was tracking on Ebay ended about 8 minutes ago.
Went for $205.51 plus $21.99 shipping for a grand total of $227.50.  Crazy!

Yeah if looking to sell for maximum profit I would probably dump one before Christmas because guessing once Mexican balls hit market people won't be willing to spend so silly.  Also +1 to the 16# being amazing.  Have a light 2nd that is best of both worlds and got it NIB for like $80 off ebay.

Holy crap makes more of a difference than I expected.  Still if need a ball that strong I shouldn't be throwing urethane but if urethane is your game that ball looks so sweet.  Can handle some volume yet doesn't need a flood up front and isn't so stupid early like the black.

Now you know why I'm chomping at the bit for it! Especially with the rumored (lack of a better word, it probably is official) rule about us not being able to use the older urethane gear going forward (read: Faball), so I'd be out a urethane piece. I haven't tried the BW Urethane yet, and while the Purple Pearl may be the only option to go right now, the BW Purple Pearl Urethane looks sick.

Right! I need to know! I have a used Black and Burgundy in near new condition.

No way to tell, but if it was me, I wouldn't even consider anything less than $200.

Last one (15lb) I saw on ebay went for over that, PLUS shipping.

Heard it touted by the commentators who ran the QubicaAMF World Cup last week, and was relative to not being able to use any of the older urethane equipment starting in the next year.  I'll go find the right timeframe for it to get the details.

Not to change the subject but has anyone heard anything about when or even if any of the Mexican made EBI stuff will hit the market?

Nope. I live among several ex-EBI staffers and Ambassadors, and not a peep yet.

It's all speculation, but I imagine it's quite a process to begin manufacturing new balls for retail sale. I suspect lots of work remains to be done first for Brunswick to determine how EBI will be integrated and what subset of existing balls will be re-produced.

There is nothing current in the EBI line-up that I'm sweating over. The new Brunswick Phantom is a much more useful ball to me that my Purple ever will be.

I thought the long email sent out by the president(or some higher up) from Brunswick stated they would start producing ebi stuff in January.

There was no mention in the CEO letter with bowlers journal. It mentioned severance pay for employees through January 13th

And from what I heard most likely they are all 16/17 releases.  Apparently the 16/17 releases were softer (72/73 on the durometer), whereas the 18/19 releases are harder.
I had my 18 release checked it was 74.  I have a 19 release NIB, going to have it checked to see if it's the same as my 18 release.

Amen....

Anything and everything is up for a topic of discussion. Still, that so much attention is given to a ball that is bad choice for the vast majority of bowlers is a head scratcher.  ???

There's one going on right now that has 34 bids on it, with the bid currently at $345. Depending on how much they spent to get it from Japan, someone is making some bank on this.

Bowlers Mart has the purple pearl widow urethane for $249.

Bowlers will buy this, but try to sell a good ball for $40 shipped and they will say: "Will you take $28 shipped for it? I can pay you 2 Fridays from now when I get paid. My wife, daughter, and mom are all in the hospital and I had to pay a lot of money out of pocket."

Then they'll ghost you when that Friday comes.

A 15# Black Widow Purple Pearl urethane went for $545.99 which included shipping on Ebay.
A 14# Black Widow Purple pearl urethane is currently approaching $300.
The only one laughing now is "bowling overstock" which is Bowlers Mart.
Supply and Demand in America.  Gotta love it!

That was the auction I was alluding to earlier and saw it as it ended. Even if bought at retail and shipped from Japan, they made bank on that!
