need help
« on: July 30, 2009, 09:16:30 AM »
I have a Hammer onyx that i just got drilled up. I have went to down and in
type of shot. Ball is great for any house shot. But when the lanes start drying up way to much ball. It starts checking up early. Looking on some advise on what would be a good medium dry lane ball. Any help would be aprecitated.

i think MOST people would consider the onyx for medium dry conditions

this greatly depends on how you view amounts of oil at your house... some peoples medium is their heavy.

with that being said there arent many options IMO because todays "low" performance balls still react hard when encountering friction... they just skate more thru the fronts and into the mids.

options I can think of off the top of my head:

visionary b/g centaur
hammer razyr (can have a very strong backend)
any of the new urethanes... (natural, ogre, desperado)
900 global link
and possibly even plastic with a core if they are REALLY toast or you have a lot of revs.
--------------------
tweener
high track with medium revs
medium speed
specs and ball layouts in profile

currently throwing
Visionary (O.P. / O. SS. / Glad S.)
Rotogrip (rogue cell)
lanemasters (black pearl)

Hi JBart!

Have you tried changing your hand position? We bowled on a secondary version of our house pattern in league last night where the oil was short...if you played in the middle the ball hooked way too soon..I decided to point my thumb at 12 o'clock with the Onyx and play straight up in between 8-10 with optimal success. Let me know if this helps. Thanks and God Bless!
