I think that this is another case of newer coverstock's featuring what used to be called Mica, but in smaller amounts. Storm was rumored to have done this in the past. Furthermore, almost all ball companies are adding "micro-oil-absorbing-additives" -- sounds like a really light load particle to me. It's hardly the "old" particle-pearl coverstock -- rather, it is a pearl cover with a light load of "new" (that is, NOT pieces of rubber or any other, older substances) particles designed to give better grip in oil/less squirt.

And by the way...the green of the Toxic is wicked!

I posted this in a new topic so others don't have to shuffle thru the long post about the TOXIC.

These two posters bring up some very good points. I know I was told a few weeks ago that the TOXIC was going to have an oil absorbing cover. This still maybe accurate. It seems as though it is from the 2nd quote.

I also know from personal experience to not down a ball without trying it for myself. I learned that from the PAIN. I didn't think it would be much different from a dull DOOM. Well it is different from a dull DOOM and I learned this by buying a PAIN and trying it myself.

I also know that STORM made a PARADIGM which they called the cover a pearl reactive when in fact, it has a very small amount of particle in it. The particle in it is so small that calling it a particle ball would be kind of dumb.

So this TOXIC maybe a great addition to the Raw Hammer series. I feel the Raw Hammer series right now is awesome and in my opinion the best 2 ball combo made at any price point.

Like ACHAPPY stated there may be times when the DOOM is not enough and the PAIN is a little too much. Well this gives a person a 3rd option that may be the difference in winning some big cash in a tourney or league.

Let's see what this ball does before we pass judgement on it. I'm sure this ball will be different than the other two.

I know I will have to try it out. It's a Raw Hammer!

Mica is pearlization, it's what's added to a solid ball to make it pearlized. Very large mica bits were used as a kind of proto-particle before more modern kinds of particles were used. The mica in a pearl ball is simply much more finely ground.

punched up the Toxic about an hour ago... goin to be throwing it tonight in league... i will post afterwords to tell how it compares to the doom... i drilled it virtually the same as my first doom... pin below bridge with the cg kicked at a 45 degree angle with an x hole 3.5 inches out from my thumb in line with the 45 degrees of pin and cg... ball looks sweeter in person than in the pictures!!!!

we will see how it compares

Just saw a Toxic drilled up for Midwest Regional
Pro Rich Blake at Chicago's Bowlers Shop. This is
a sweet looking ball, the lime green and silver
is a cool combination. I know Rich won a lot of money
in local leagues using the Pain, and he is looking
forward to using this baby !

My local pro shop guy drilled one up for this past Monday's second shift big money league. He said he moved all of 2 boards left the entire night and pumped out a resounding 827.

One would be tempted to say that it "fits" somewhere between the Doom and the Pain, but it seemed to cover more boards than either of them. It seemed that way, visually as I watched from a couple of pairs down. While not being as snappy as the Doom and while demonstrating more arc-iness than the Pain, I was absolutely mortified at the hitting power.

It looks like Hammer may be getting some of my business pretty soon.

pin under bridge, cg kicked 1.75 inches with balance hole 3.5 inches out from thumb 15/16 in size 2.5 inches deep
3/4 side weight and 1/2 finger weight

this ball is so clean through the heads it is ridiculous

i was bowling on a ths last night at league... first game i was all over the place kinda comin down from nerves from getting there cuz there was a ton of traffic so i didnt use my first game as a conclusive tool about the ball

the second game rolled around finally, and then i got into the groove of things and started getting better ball roll and i think rotation

- it is hard to see mine rotate down the lane due to the coloration of the ball, so i cant even tell how well its revving up besides ball reaction haha

anyways... i finally found my groove and found that it is definitely stronger than the doom which is amazing to me. i found it to be a bit snappier off the break than the doom although the lower rg of the core and a bit stronger of a cover should make it a bit rollier of a pearl

light pocket hits are what i found to be the best with this ball at least at league last night

i left a few blower seven pins but other than that pins wer flying all over, and of course the typical ring ten at santa clarita happens ever so often so i had a few of those, a couple 9's and an 8 pin...

it might have been a bit too wet dry for this ball but by the last game i was playing tight in the middle and shot 257 with 3 ten pins

it definitely has a lot of potential and am looking forward to throwing it tonite in league again and more so after

i will try and give a comparison to my black widow after tonight because it was burnin up a bit early last night at league due to a lack of a bit of head oil... where i bowl tonight will give me a better idea of how they compare, and maybe i will try and have a no mercy comparison as well

oh and the ball looks even sexier in person than in the pictures :-D
