Title: Sauce - Orange Vibe - Tough - New Hammer releases
Post by: 3835 on May 30, 2019, 12:12:32 PM
Already on the Hammer website. As a loyal Hammer guy, I am quite frankly uninspired by these. The Sauce, essentially a retread from 15 years ago with a new cover, a new color on the existing Vibe line, and a new plastic ball (the Tough is plastic).

Oh well. I stockpiled Scandals and will continue to drill them. Statement solid is still rolling very well also.

Still wish they would have brought the Peppermint Vibe here from overseas, but I guess they don't want to cannibalize what little Onyx Vibe sales they must be having right about now..

Summer releases have always been a bit meh anyway, especially with BowlExpo coming up. We'll see what happens, as I'm still aiming for Statement Solid, Web Tour, BWP, and BWBG.

The Tough says it's "Polythane" just like the newest Motiv Sniper series. Whatever that actually is. Tougher polyester formula? Really hard urethane?

The Orange Vibe replaces the Blue and is a Solid so it should be a little earlier and maybe even stronger. The Tough is not plastic per Hammer it is something else. Who knows it could just be marketing. My understanding is their will be a lot of Symetricals coming from EBI...

Ebonite put up their new colors for the Destiny Solid and Pearl.

Yep seen that. They will get slammed for the color of the solid Destiny for sure...

I laughed when I first saw it on the approved list. I'm definitely curious to see what Track is bringing. The Kinetics have been in for awhile now

Yep me too. I have been pumping my EBI contact hard but he will not tell me. Only that Symetricals are going to be the rage for EBI. The Destiny is a good ball but Storm/RG guys are going to have a little fun with the new Destiny..

I don't get why Hammer has so many new releases this year. Seems they're going way overboard, and I've been a huge fan.

Understand, sometimes it seems companies release a lot. But I think they will be on par with normal with maybe a couple more than the last couple of years..

The thing to remember is Hammer is EBI cash cow, been the number one seller of the 4 brands for a while. So they have to ride it while its hot.

The marketing for C300 and Track has been lets say not great in recent history.  Little better lately seems like.

The marketing for C300 and Track has been lets say not ideal in recent history.

Yep agreed. I think Ebonite is bad considering they are the parent company. Has been a little better lately, but not much respect for the parent brand...

Of course Track will never really be Track without Phil.

More to the point though it seems inexcusable for C300 to not have any U-Dots (or urethane period) now that urethane is a big thing again.

While I can't disagree with that take, part of the reason I have liked Hammer is that they seemed to keep it simple. It's like they're copying Storm now, with a ball-of-the-month.

"The Orange Vibe replaces the Blue and is a Solid so it should be a little earlier and maybe even stronger. "

Exactly what I have seen from this piece so far
I like the blue and orange as 2 balls in my bag vs the blue/black.

I didn't have the Sauce previously and frankly was expecting another strong midlane piece that would lose energy and roll out.
That was not the case as I saw midlane motion and enough energy to continue quite well through the pins.
I will be curious to see how it compares to the Web in terms of where the midlane motion is.
But I like what I see so far

As much as it seems like Hammer produces a ball a month, it really hasn't been that way. The Sauce is not a full retread and is replacing the Scandal/S in the Line. The Vibes do pretty well actually and are only hurt by the Urethanes. The Orange is just an opportunity to update the line as we head into the summer months. The Tough will be a mixture of Urethane and Polyester, making it hard to chip or crack as well as giving you guys the 3 year warranty on higher performance balls.

The releases are more of need than Flash. We've updated the HP line with the Statements, have great UMP Asyms in the Widows, MP and Lower MP with Webs and Flawless and not forget BOY candidate in Rhodman Pearl, Vibes have been pretty good. Just I guess needed a revamp of the Upper Mid Sym category and we get it with the Sauce.

C300 had the Classic U however it wasn't a stamped U-Dot. Besides that there Still as the Black and Purple Hammer Urethanes which are STILL our biggest sellers. Hammer is the biggest seller so youll see the most releases from Hammer as they sponsor multiple events and organizations.

Didn't C300 reproduce the solid and pearl U2 a couple of years ago? Is it still in production or did they just do that for flash and sent it back to the archives?

I don't remember a true remake (not that their remakes are remakes). There's The Classic U2 which is solid urethane with a Resurgence core, but everyone bought the Blue Hammer instead and the Classic got discoed quickly.

I have one, redrilled it from something like 3.875x45 to 5.5x80 because a. I wanted something that could make 10 pins and b. if I tried it on drier parts of the lane it just rolled immediately. Probably no surprise given a 2.46 Rg plus urethane.
