Anger or bite?
« on: February 10, 2008, 10:03:35 AM »
Looking to purchase a new ball, have not thrown hammer since the 3-d so its been awhile. So on a THS on synthetic lanes. for a high rev player drilled the same, what ball do you hammerheads recommend? I have seen the bite thrown and it looked good but, here some neg. about it . Have not seen the anger thrown but, here nothing but great things about it. So there lies my dilemma - which ball?

Just for a THS? Is it a med-heavy THS, or lighter?

I don't know much about he Anger but after throwing the Bite I would say the Anger has to be the better choice. The Bite really Bite's. Flat out sucks. Consider the BWP or Doom.

I would go with the Anger if it's only down to between the Bite or Anger. From what i've seen/read, the Anger proves more versatile, and is definitely "a better bang for the buck". It takes surface adjustments nicely, also. Just proving more of its' versatility. Hope this helps.

I have both, but not many games yet, and each was used under different conditions.

The Anger (and mine is polished) grabs earlier than the Bite, but it's a strong arc, versus a longer skid/flip reaction from the Bite. So far my Anger has been used on light to medium/heavy oil, the Bite on Medium to medium/heavy oil. I think it would depend on the other balls in your arsenal (that you've brought to the lanes) and on the oil pattern/volume you run into most of the time, which would fit best.

Despite the lack of games, I already feel the Anger is more versatile, but the Bite more explosive. My league average is in the low 200's and so far I've bowled several games (including practice) with the Anger and most scores were between 190 and 220 regardless of the lane condition. With the Bite on lighter oil I had to fight to get it far enough down the lane to hit the pocket and best game was a 205, with a few lucky breaks. On medium to medium-heavy oil, it was fantastic. Not only a decent score (255), but almost every strike was a solid hit.

To me....so far it seems that the Bite will be a more condition specific ball than the Anger. Depending on the mix of your current arsenal of balls, you may be more interested in the Anger (a ball that would be effective on several oil conditions) or the Bite (a ball you could pull out of your bag when you encounter an medium-heavy or heavy oil pattern that is keeping your other equipment from reacting).

Hope that helps a little.

I have both, but they aren't drilled similar at all.

The Bite is the most aggressive ball I own.

You can read a mini comparison:

I can't give enough props the Anger tho.  It has a special ball reaction in my hands, it is really clean thru the fronts, reads the midlane exceptionally well and is controllable on the back but with good hitting power.
