similar to a rampage
« on: February 12, 2008, 05:48:09 PM »
hey. i have a brunswick rampage but it is getting beat up.. looking to get a new ball to replace it. i have a blackwidow solid, resurgence, and a tropical storm. what ball would replace the rampage? i would like to stay with hammer but am open to any other options that may be even better. thanks

I think the Cherry Vibe/DOOM/TOXIC, all 3 are low rg, pearl resins.

i was thinking about the doom or the cherry vibe as well. does the doom roll up early tho? looking for something to go long. and what is the difference between the 2 vibes (cherry and blue)? thanks Andrew

I'd say the Doom. It has a stronger core, but the Rampage, with its PK18 pearl coverstock, will IMHO read the lane earlier than the Doom, which might look a bit flipper an the back end. But overall, I think these a pretty comparable.

AFAIK, the Cherry Vibe would be a little weaker or for lighter conditions (rather like the discontinued Punisher), while the Blue Vibe is a strong option - but I am not 100% sure.

No, the Doom is will be a touch longer and a touch stronger off the spot than the Rampage.  I have both, but they are extremely different drills.  My Rampage has some miles on it as well.  From what I've seen of the Cherry Vibe, I still think they would be close with the same 400 plus Bwick High Gloss finish.

Overall, I don't think you can go wrong with either choice.

The CV is a pearl that has great length and more snap on the backend. The BV is a solid that has length with a strong arc on the backend. The BV is alot stronger than you think. It has become my benchmark ball. Can't go wrong with either the CV or Doom, although the Doom will probably be closest to your Rampage.IMHO

I think the DOOM is going to be very close to the rampage.

oh by the way. if im using only 2 balls, my widow solid drill for skid flip and this doom, how should i drill the doom to work better for the medium-dry lanes? since i have the widow solid to take care of the medium-heavy i needed something for the dryer side. thanks again everyone

I would just give it a length/back end layout!  Or just use your favorite layout and call it a day!
