Big Deal=Giving me big problems
« on: February 16, 2006, 06:08:36 AM »
for the past couple of weeks i have noticed my big deal has been losing it's hook/backend potential. Well last nite after sanding it and cleaning it viciously, the ball just rolled...............I don't know what to do. That was "go get em" ball. My overtime is good but sometimes when it snaps it has a tendency to snap too hard. What should i do?

Help

Frist off, how long have you had this ball, and how many games would you expect you have on it. If its a lot, then i would say that you have that ball put into the Ebonite Hook Again system. First sand the entire ball to 100 grit sandpaper, then let it sit in the hook Again for 1 full day, 24 hrs, then take it out, clean it off, anf take it up to 1000 abralon (oob). This should rejouvinate the ball to almost new condition.

I still think people should stop sanding bowling balls and changing the cover unless absolutely necessary. I have read on here numerous times about people wondering why they can't get the factory reaction back on a ball after they have refinished it..

Its also very important if you do decide to change the coverstock, you know what your doing and not just start sanding it with sandpaper.. A spinner is also 100% needed when making coverstock changes..

I say leave the coverstock as it came out of the box and just clean the ball with clean and dull and not acetone or some other type of illegal cleaner that might damage the ball..

Just my 2 cents..

I cleaned it with ebonite cleaner and i bought some 1000 grit abralon pads and put it back in oob condition.

Also ive had it since october and its about 300 games on it.

Also, please take it to your pro shop for a proper resurfacing. 300 games is way past normal parameters. It's makes a lot of sense that your ball is dying.
