Title: Taboo Deep Purple vs Lucid
Post by: Monster Stitch on October 19, 2012, 10:59:06 AM
Any of you guys have both or have compared one or the other with a friend's. I am just curious how diferent these two are. Some people i have talked to say these two are pretty similar. Your help would be greatly appreciate it. Thanks.

I dont draw that comparison.. For example, my critical with polish is pretty close to my defiant edge.  Id  say the amount of oil that is needed is probably close to the same so ...i can see others having to choose between the two..but hook shapes should be way different...my vivid is a rolly mofo! Lol

Hopefully buddies or someone who does videos can compare..

My Deep Purple is strong, gets into a roll very easily and needs oil upfront. Its a great ball that carries better than anything I have ever thrown, the OB surface was just too strong and too early for me, I went to 4000 and love it. But you have to know when to put it away. Very smooth hard arc motion, very controllable, great recovery and continuation. I have been scoring great with it as long as I put it away when I need too...

I would say that the deep purple is extremely over priced with that ancient core...... the motions are rather similar.  i have both with the same exact layout. the lucid is stronger overall and the purple is stronger off the break. both are great balls but i am a storm guy so i would have to recommend the lucid. and as vkowalski1970 said. you have to know when set the purple down it will check up on you faster that the lucid.

In response to the MB question. I drilled the TDP with pin up and MB at 70 degrees to get as much out of the ball that I could. Being lower RG, I did not want MB too close to VAL. With the Lucid being higher RG and lower differential, I did 45 degrees to get ball to read a little earlier. Higher RG balls and me usually don't fair well together. I was figuring taking RG and Differential of these two ball in consideration that they would have reacted similar with the layouts I used. I have my 508A drilled with same layout as TDP and it outperforms the TDP. I threw both TDP and 508A at 2000 abralon polished with snake oil.
