Taboo vs Swagga.... real world?
« on: December 23, 2010, 01:09:45 AM »
Ok people,

I can honestly say ive never thrown the swagga, but I of course have the taboo, drilled pin under ring, cg stacked. Now I had a golden opportunity to pick up the swagga drilled pin over fingers, no weight hole. I was wondering what would the difference be.. would it be enough difference that I can polish the swagga and get enough difference or would they just overlap. Please only respond if you have experience with each, no hearsay reviews please!

How would these compare both at box.. and with polish.. thanks.. I may just have to drill this up and post results myself, but I hate messing with a ball and finding out its the same reaction..

I am really thinking these would have to be very similar as they have the same core... hammer has the taboo cover rated a level higher, but it also has an additional finish cycle on it, so that could be the difference in itself!

This has been discussed already, but the Swagga and Taboo are much different in ball reaction. The Swagga is a little earlier with a little smoother reaction down lane. The Taboo is much more continuous down lane than any of the Hammer products from the past.

Since I have had the opportunity to drill up these 2 balls with the same layout, the Taboo is much stronger off the spot/breakpoint & continuous down the lane.... so I polished up my Swagga so when the Taboo is too strong, I can pull out the Swagga and play the same part of the lane.

Since your Taboo is pin down, it will roll a little earlier than a pin up ball... so if you were to polish up the Swagga, you will have a perfect 1-2 punch ball for the conditions that you face.

I hope this helps and let me know if you have any questions.

I have to agree, they are totally different i have both a swagga and taboo both pin up over bridge, oob and the swagga is a board or 2 earlier and smooth on backend where the taboo is much longer and snap off backend, i just drilled a pin down taboo and took it too 1000 grit, and polished pin up one but cant go wrong with either or both they are great ball

Just like Plowboy, I too have drilled both balls with the same layout...to compare side by side. I used a 45x5x45 layout on both. The pin ended up above the fingers. I had both balls at 2000 abralon. I found the Taboo to be stronger at the breakpoint and much more continuous. I was about 4/2 farther in with the Taboo. I find that once the Taboo starts burning up too soon, I can ball down to the Swagga and stay in the same part of the lane.

There's no doubt that the Taboo is the strongest ball I've thrown from Hammer. To that point I'll also add that it's very consistent for being such a strong ball. Very predictable in it's motion. The Swagga I would consider, as I said above, a "ball down" in overall reaction from the Taboo. They are a great compliment to each other.
