If the Infrared's cover is truly based on the Blue's CutThroat cover, then they may finally have something. All the rest of the XR's used more modern and very strong coverstocks that seemed to overpower the Vibe's medium strength core.
Remember the Vibe's were originally intended to handle light to medium-light oil, with the Onyx taking its abilities just barely into true medium oil.
-
:O it might be time to replace my blue vibe finally
-
Will they actually have this in 16lbs, or will it be only 15lbs like some of there other "specials"?

They had 16's for the ER and Envy, both numbered balls...my guess is yes. I think some of the overseas balls there were no 16's..stay tuned I guess

Thanks. I believe it was the overseas balls I had looked at in the past. I was very disappointed to see only 15lbs. I will check back on the 26th and take a look. Sounds interesting. What was the price point on the other balls they put out like this? I didn't see anything indicating price when I looked at the website, just the blog announcement.

They are $139.99 each. Just bought my two. ;D

i love my cobalt. still to this day i cant figure out if the cover on it is of the black widow solid and the pearl look is just for aesthetics or if its the black widow pearl's cover. ive heard both answers. i keep it at 500/4000+lane shine and it gets a bunch of length and hard arc/snap depending on hand position.
i have to say how are you guys drilling the new one already?
-
Ive got two in 15lbs I will be selling. I think this ball will be a lot bigger hit then the Green Envy. Fireball red is always a winner.
-
Anyone see the 14lbs specs? I saw the 15lbs
-
So who is gonna be the first one to ebay?
-
My tracking number came today so technically I could list them since I know I got two. I have in times past. Probably will this weekend.
Im not excited that they didnt list the number available.
-
Mine are not going to make eBay this time. One I will keep as I have a nice little collection of Vibes, the other has already been traded to a local pro shop.
-
Lol could you imagine how crazy it would be storm did this lol

Yeah, noticed that also.

They apparently did not sell out last night. Still some #15s and #16s left. Since they didn't sell out quickly like some of the other previous XRs, I'm guessing the resale market is not going to be as profitable for those who were hoping to make a killing on ebay.

Glad I already made a deal for my extra ball!
I kind of expected that with the way the Envy XR was handled. If you make something "exclusive", stick with the original production number. When they upped the count from 400 +/- to over 700, that pretty much killed the resale value of the Envy XR.
Still a smart move on Barnes part though, dude has made good money on all of them I bet.

No doubt! From what I understand, a limited run like this is going to cost about $90 per ball. Barnes perhaps negotiated an even better price though. But this is what I've read in the past. They sell them for $140 and they probably spend about $10 per ball on shipiing. So $40/ball profit. Multiply that by 533 (for this release) for a total profit of $21,320. Granted there are additional costs of staffing people to handle the product coming in and going out. Regardless, Barnes is making some "easy" money. I personally refuse to buy into this type of product. It's a bowling ball after all, not gold. I have no need to spend a premium price on a "rare" bowling ball.

But, but, but....my Vibe collection wouldn't be complete without the new red one! :o ;D ;D
-
That is why I purchased this one, to keep up with all of the Vibes in my collection... Only missing the rare (Purple/Gold Vibe - INTL ball)...
-
Regardless of what y'all think, there isn't any "easy" money to be made anywhere in the bowling industry.
If it was that easy and risk free don't you think more would do it?
-
Is it a pearl or solid?
-

As I understand it, it's a solid. Supposed to be the same cover as the Blue Vibe.

The "risk" is when will it get to the point where the lemmings stop buying into the hype. For a company that is already set up for online sales and to bring in and ship out product, this is "easy" money. Of course the key is marketing and I think Barnes really caught on to something with the numbering. People love limited rare items, and then you put a number on it and it makes it even more special. Then you also kind of "trap" those that already bought into the original XR. You give them pre-order privileges so that they can secure the number they have for the next release. Those people feel like they HAVE TO BUY IT! Collecting bowling balls is a waste of money.
-
Anyone catch the specs of the 14lb yet?

Well, that is one opinion. :D

The new Vibe XR doesn't seem to be generating near as much excitement on Ebay as the original XR. The bidding has been luke warm to say the least. Looks like the party is over! At least until the NEXT limited release. ;D ;D
I bought three total, one I traded before I even received it, one goes into my "waste of money" Vibe collection. :o And the third one I have drilled and will be throwing tonight for the first time.
-
Punched one up myself and it rolls pretty well. A little stronger than i was expecting.

I was afraid of this....I got one too, but I need a weaker type of ball right now.
What type of condition did you play it in and what would you compare it to?
-
The world is 80% dumb people. ... there's always enough to buy a hyped up, over priced , Must have , Next great ball !

Medium THS. It's comparable to a Brunswick Meanstreak brawler. Slightly cleaner and more down lane.
-
I used my Vibe Infrared XR last night for the first time. It's not a dry lane ball, that's for sure.
Mine is drilled pin an inch above my ring finger with the cg straight under the pin. The shot is on the lighter side of a medium oil THS pattern. Nice ball, it has the typical solid cover roll with a nice arching path to the pocket with controlled move at the end of the pattern.
It won't have a place in my regular rotation as I have Motiv stuff that is much better, but it will be a nice curiosity to pull out from time to time.

Well if you ever decide to get rid of it I might drive over and take it off your hands. That's a perfect set up for me to put a MOtion hole on it.
