This one is a keeper.....
« on: August 01, 2009, 03:21:15 PM »
What is one bowling ball that you can't retire from your arsenal? No newer equipment should be listed in this post or equipment that was released within the past 2 years. I would love to see what rocks people are still throwing.

I'm assuming you mean 'can't retire from your arsenal?' If that's the case I have to say it's my spare ball, it's the same one from years ago. It's just got a good fit.

Fixed the original post, thanks for pointing it out.

A spare ball is understandable because it has only one job. What kind of spare ball do you have anyway? I have a Roto Grip clear grenade that is an absolute monster at this one house I bowl. Never have I shot a 700+ with a spare ball. It has very rolly backend and hits like a monster.

It's a White Dot, it sees the lanes when they are really dry. Used it a few months ago in a tourney (29 ft. pattern) Played up the gutter all day!

16 lb Brunswick Command Zone. There are other balls (older and not as old) that I am still using effectively, but their roles have changed (aggressive balls when new now used when something with less traction is better suited to the lane conditions).

First saw it sometime around 1999-2000, and it looked to be in terrible shape ----and it was purple!. When the owner of the pro-shop showed it to me, I wasn't that keen on it, but ended up buying it, and it has been and still is my "slump-breaker" ball.  Definitely a skid/flip type ball, though it's "flip" may only be a couple of boards, it is dependable.

What sets it apart from my other equipment is that it is still used in the same role (for heavy to medium-heavy oil). Still hits as good as the big boys as it's reaction has never changed, despite at least 3 drilling changes made over the years.

I still love using my Vapor Zone and Spit Fire. These two have been a great combination over the last couple of years and they never seem to dissapoint me.I have thrown two 300's with my Spit Fire and the Vapor Zone helped me to finish in second place in the Champion of Champions tournament.
