Vibe 1-2 punch
« on: October 19, 2007, 05:48:35 AM »
How much more length does the cherry have than the blue. I recently purchase a blue and that ball has been great on anything except heavier volumes of oil. Am thinking about dulling the blue down to maybe 2000 grit and getting the cherry for a 1-2 punch to cover most of the league conditions one runs into. Will that work or just keep the blue polished and go with an anger? Straighter player with decent ball speed.

IMO, the "heavier oil" is something we all describe differently. A Cherry will work as you ask, but not so good on what I call "heavy oil" Dulling your Blue, to maybe 1000 or even 500 will make it handle a lot more oil, I'd try that first. As far as "heavy oil", that depends, the Anger will do great there but for the money spent, and IF the Blue Vive taken down handles what you see and call "heavier oil", then I'd suggest a Cherry and a dull blue.

You're looking at about a $20 difference so if that isn't enough for you to worry about, get the Anger and leave the Vibe as it is.

Azguy,
Should have been more precise, "heavier oil means med-heavy" rarely run into heavy oil.

Med?Heavy oil, the Blue to 1000 should work fine. You'll have to make sure you clean it after every set and every so often bath or into the shop for an oil change..lol.

The Cherry will work great on med to light as is OOB, so if you want to save a few $'s then get a Cherry and have the Blue taken down a bit. If you just want a med/heavy ball, then the Anger would be a good one to have.

For me, I use a Pain and a Toxic, neither in OOB. I like the reaction I get and make cover changes to fit what I think the oil should be on that given night. As a back-up, the No Mercy is always waiting in the bag.
