Black Widow Bite vs. Anger~Comparions:
« on: January 12, 2008, 11:44:40 PM »
O.K., I'd figured I'd give my comparison between these two balls, from my experience on using both of them.

Things to remember: The Bite is asymetrical, the Anger is symetrical. The Bite's surface is 4000 no polish, the Anger is 2000 no polish, two different cores also. The drillings are different also.

The Bite is drilled pin above and right slightly of the ring finger, cg kicked right some, MB right of the thumb about 2". The reaction of this ball is a strong hockey stick. It's at least about 5 boards stronger than my BW Solid was OOB new. Very aggresive backend, strong recovery off the dry, very predictable roll/read, and a total powerhouse.

Bite= great medium-heavy, with backend reaction, carry/hitting power, best left at OOB surface.

The Anger is drilled pin right of ring, and slightly down, cg stacked. The ball reads the lane early, starts to rev up early, and is ready to hook early. This Anger is earlier on reads than the Bite is, but then again, that's what I'm looking for. The Anger also is more of a big arc/hook, to where the Bite is alot more angular. Even at 2000, the Anger is very aggresive, and ready to move. If I encounted really "heavy" oil, the surface on the Anger could go to down to 500 abralon, and really turn aggresive.

Anger= more of a true heavy oil ball, could take the surface down easily to attack a really oily pattern.

The point being on these two balls is, they are very different balls all together, and meant for different things~IMO. My first Anger that cracked was pin over bridge, cg kicked right. That ball got down the lane, then made a sharper move on the backend, even on a heavier/longer oil pattern. Not a move like the BW's can produce though, being that we are dealing with different covers AND the core, which I believe is the main engine in the BW balls.

I know there is soooo much talk about these two balls all together, and which does what, which one is stronger, handle more oil, etc. In my honest opinion, and I know I don't know as much as alot of other guys might, I'm just giving my thoughts, and results that I've had with both these balls. Two different balls, cores, covers, drillings, etc.

Both are excellent balls period. Each one does exactly what I wanted them for, so how could I complain? They will compiment each other on many shots, and give two totally different looks. Hope this summary kind of helps anyone with my similar stats, or was wondering how these two balls differ.

Nice review. I think, at times, people forget it's hard to compare apples (asym core)to oranges (sym core) when they are different cores/covers and designed to do different things. Thanks for pointing that out, some over look that fact.

Very cool review.  I kinda figured that is how they would compare.  I'm kinda looking for something to open up the backend.  So I may punch up a Bite in the coming weeks.

As for the Anger, I used it again yesterday on the Shark.  I followed the youth league, which burned up a spot at 8-10.  I played a couple of games in at 11 and shot back to back 190s with my TRoad Solid.  Pulled out my Epic Quest and shot 220.  Moved right and shot 230 with my TRoad and then used my Anger once the TRoad started reading too early.  THe overall hook was the same, but the Troad reads early with a pin down and 1000 grit cover.  It just continues to impress.

I think you'll really like the Bite Andrew. It's really got some aggresive backend reaction off the dry.

Out of the Beat 'N or the first No Mercy, they aren't even close. From the one's I've had/thrown, or seen at my center, none of those have the reaction, or angle that the Bite does.

I've never been a huge fan of the No Mercy's, like I have the Widow series. But no, the reactions and recovery aren't even close between the two of them.
