Title: Vibe and Viral Hybrid
Post by: thedjs on June 06, 2018, 09:35:23 AM
These two balls look like they are identical except maybe for the cover-stock.  Anyone tried both and can tell me if there is any difference?

In my opinion, the cover on the Viral hybrid didn't match the majority of bowlers like the vibes. They do share the same core.

The Virals are based off of the Violent Flip Reactive cover that was on the Widow Sting in a Pearl, Polished Solid, and Hybrid Version. Solid Violent Flip like the Widow Sting has is a very aggressive cover and about 2 generations "newer" than the retro Vibes and their covers. You'll probably see close to 3-4 boards separation with the Virals all being more ball overall than the Vibes.

For me, the Vibes are much more predictable. the Blue and now the Black are must have for me. They do need an area of defined friction IMO to be effective, once i find that, they strike for days it seems

Yeah. The vibes are amazing low end balls.

Virals never seemed even get traction. Haven't really seen em.on the lanes except for the grey pearl.

Had a cobalt vibe followed by viral, then blue vibe remake
Agree with above.  Vibes were both great control balls with good hit on demanding conditions.  Never found any place where the viral was very useful
