Title: Web Tour
Post by: shakezilla9 on November 20, 2018, 05:17:17 PM
Greetings everyone! Just looking for some general guidance on expanding my arsenal. I bowl in a sport league that gives us 2 different patterns per 10 week season.

I've become intrigued by the concept of a tour ball as of late. Something that is smooth and controllable on a variety of conditions, but I'm primarily looking for a reactive piece that will let me control my shape on medium length patterns.

Right now we are doing a 40' challenge pattern which is much easier than our previous sport patterns, both long and short. Anyways, the only thing I can get a consistent look with is my black hammer. However, I feel like I'm capped at a low 200 average with it.

It gives me easy access to the pocket all night long, but I only get good carry for 1 and 1/2 games, usually peeking at the end of game 1. So I'm looking for something that will give me similar shape that allows me to carry more shots from deeper in.

Basic info: 2 hander, medium speed, high track. Current Arsenal is in my bio.

Really just want something smooth off the breakpoint. With my rev rate, everything but urethane just snaps sideways the moment it clears the pattern on medium sport/challenge shots. I've tried my rip'd at all sorts of surface grits, even at 500 it either takes off left, or rolls out if I increase my angles.

Still completely lost on short patterns, but that's an issue for another day.

just buy the original blue and red ball that Brunswick and Hammer are trying to copy.....Storm iQ Tour.

Why are so many people hung up on only owning a single brand of equipment?  If you are not a staffer and they are paying for it then why??? There is a lot of good stuff by all manufactures and EVERY company has its duds.

The Hammer Web Tour would be a good addition to your arsenal. It would fit above your Black Hammer and give you a controlled motion on the lane.  I have a web tour and it is becoming one of my favorite balls to use. Mine has a predictable motion and is usable on a sport or house shot. I am able to play straighter angles with it and not have to give the pocket away.

Huge fan of the Truth Tour and sure the OP could use one of those as well, but I feel the IQ Tour/Web Tour/Intel (Whatever company floats your boat) is the perfect ball after urethane. You might need to go a bit more left from the Black, but it transitions well.

I had also considered the IQ Tour, but everyone and their mother (mine included) throws Storm and I wanted to be different...

Plus EBI was the only company that has hosted Demo days near me ever, so I go to try out all of their equipment a few months back, which lead me to the Rip'd for use on our (at the time) 45' sport shot. Then I wanted a big spare ball (possibly out of novelty but also for use on scorched lanes) which lead me to the Widow Spare.

Hammer also seemed to have the best urethane balls on the market, with the Purple Pearl popping up in every tournament I've attended in the past 6 months. So, there we go. I just wanted a reactive ball that gave me a similar shape to my Black Hammer, really.

The 3 year warranty is also a big factor.

That's exactly what I'm looking for. Something that allows me to move left when the Black Hammer loses carry, but without sacrificing too much control in the process.

Do you use it at box finish? After much experimentation, I have taken a lot of my equipment up to higher grits on everything but really short and really long patterns. I currently use my Black Hammer at 1500 and the carry seems a lot better on misses in.

How does the reaction differ from the blue vibe? Enough difference to carry both with an choice and purple urethane?

Absolutely. Definitely stronger than the Vibes and under the Choice

I shot 300 the 1st day it was released with it, I keep my at 1000 before each league session, it reads the mids so well and is so predictable. very easy to find the pocket with it. We start the short pattern next week and I will give it a try, but I have had great luck with some other stronger pieces on short.
It really depends on the volume we see.
The advice I was given on the Web Tour is to drill this piece with a stronger Pin-Pap than normal since the diff is so low and with a 4" pin/pap distance, my flair rings are fairly tight.
IMO, the purple urethane has been really good at times, but the carry is so-so at times, I don't have the rev rate I used to, the Web Tour is "urethane like" but reads the mids and has some decent motion through the pins for me

You could even go with an Eruption Pro Blue! It uses a form of the Resurgence core that started the low rg, low diff balls before Storm and the IQ Tour!

My Eruption Blue Pro is 3 - 4 stronger than the Web Tour with a similar pin up drilling on both. I have left my Web Tour at box and haven't adjusted the surface yet. I have about 20 games on it and there is a little lane shine, but hasn't affected the performance. After cleaning it, it still has the out of box sanded look.

As a two hander myself, The IQ Tour. I see in your arsenal you have some heavy hitters. I would also go with the GB3.

If throw 15 Buddies has the GB3 for $85 right now.  A steal at that price.
