what ball
« on: April 23, 2008, 01:11:25 PM »
Looking for a ball for medium to somewhat medium house shot.  I throw 16 mph with medium revs and i am a stroker pretty much to a tweener sometimes.  I currently throw a hammer turbo diesel that is dying.  I perfer to play straighter up the boards to a small swing shot.

I am considering the Raid, the Black Widow Solid, the Black Widow Bite, the Cell, Terminator as a few.  What ball might you all suggest the most?

Of the ones that you've got listed there I would say the Black Widow Solid. If you only like to play a small swing, I'd say the Bite is probably going to be a little much for you on medium stuff.

One that's not on your list that you might want to consider is the Doom. It's really a great ball that takes cover changes very well. It works on a lot of different conditions for me in the OOB polished surface.

I would go with the Bite drilled a little weaker than normal and polished or a Toxic.I was not fond of the Doom.

you will probably like the Cell the most. The Black Widow series, and Raid balls will probably have more flip(backend) than you are comfortable playing with

Hey Clean, enough with the research, you need to buy, buy, buy.
Black Widow Solid or the Raid will work but save yourself some cash, buy a Blue Vibe. That ball works on everything except the extremes!

From hammer's own website, "[blue vibe] serves as the #1 weapon in the Hammer product line for battling dry lane conditions."  I somehow dont think this is the ball he wants.

That ball is way stronger than advertised! It eats up mediums and med-dry, and if you take the cover down to 1000 it will handle heavier volumes. Best bang for the buck on the market.

I agree with gazoo. The blue vibe according to hammer was intended for dry lane conditions but I would beg to differ. I bowl on a med oil house(ths)with the blue vibe and it is golden. Since I bought it I've noticed that a few more have popped up. Very good ball. For me I wouldn't dare use it on dry it would be way too much, and heavy forget about it. I have a spinner but its one of those balls I like best in oob. Great ball.

I think the anger would be a good option.  Most of the other balls, I think are too strong except maybe for the Raid.  That might work but I'm not quite sure.  When they start breaking down I'd think it would shine but on fresh oil I don't know.  I'm pretty sure you could play fairly straight with the anger and move to a small angle shot as the lanes transition.
